Hi Chantal
Making your own bench is a great idea, for starters dont go mad, 10mm tops are fine and dandy. I started out with a piece of sheet on a workmate, then nabbed a stainnless kitchen table out of a skip. Now I have an 8x4ft 6mm worktop.
Welders? I have been sculpting with a180amp machine for years and managed with a 130amp one for years before that.
Top tip, dot have the vice bench mounted, it gets in the way and everything jumps of the bench when you wallop it. I built a seperate vice stand very early in my career.
Good luck and keep us posted with any projects . if you get stuck dont be afraid to ask for advice.
I started sculpting as a small hobby about 13 years ago. Then it go out of control.
Cant beat it.
