suitable size wire for welding sills ?

hi im attempting to weld the sills on my jeep in the near future and i was wonder what size wire would suit best.. i havent decided on either buying replacement sills and welding them in.. or just use box iron and fabricate them .. anyway would it matter if i used either 0.6 or 0.8 wire for the job.. il be using a clarke turbo weld 150 te for the job..
i have yet to purchase tips for it so it wont matter which i decide to use once its the most suited for the job..
any time ive used mig welders its been in work and its always been on heavier material and ive just used whats there..
seeing as im after buying one for home use i might as well buy the right gear.. once the sills are welded in any welding il be doing afterwords will be light stuff.. making gates small frames etc and working on the odd car if this first attempt is succesful

Done a few on landys and I always run 0.8

i have always used 0.8mm, never actually tried 0.6mm partly because of the price difference and partly because ive never had a problem with 0.8

Attacking transit sills tomorrow with .8 wire and if it welds them it should weld anything

ive welded a transit (granted it wasnt a sill panel) with gasless 0.9mm wire and it was fine, just using stitch method

I use .8 for any automotive welding be it bodywork or chassis , again as above for body work use stitch method , for cills I would probably use drill and plug to emulate the spot welds that were done in factory !

You just need the power to run .8 properly as you are melting and laying nearly twice the amount of metal, of .6 wire
with a decent 3ph mig you can weld body work with 1mm ---just.

.8 for me too, only got .6 for really thin bodywork and only if asked

Did sills on a transit connect last sat.
