Suitable adhesive

The tapered chuck on mu old pillar drill keeps falling out. The end isn't shaped to key into the socket so it just relies on the friction of the fit.
Is there a loctite or similarly product that would lock them together? The chuck doesn't need to come out again.

Which taper is it? Morse, jacobs, B?
Likely the taper or socket has dirt, a burr or damage preventing a good fit.

clean it well and give it a light sand ,, spray the socket with brake cleaner ,,, line up the keyway for the ejection slot ,,, and when its fitted put a lump of wood under the chuck with no drill in it and use the lowering handle to snug it home ,,, see if that helps any

Any sort of adhesive and you'll never get it off again.
As said above, Clean it and check it and refitnit dry

Remove any obvious burrs or dints.
Blue the taper insert and twist to see where it is or not making good contact.
For very light damage to socket, a morse reamer may be enough to fix it but needs to be used with care.

If it's just a donkey drill....ie nothing special, any of the lower strength Loctite fluids will work....
If it's a fancy super accurate drill a lot of the above will help solve the prob...
My go too pillar drill is a Bridgeport mill everything else is just for jobs that are not so important...

Another option is to put the chuck into the freezer and warm up the spindle with a hairdryer.

The tang on a Morse taper is not meant for transmitting torque, only for ejection, so every Morse taper in history is a friction drive.

If your own is not transmitting the torque, there is a problem with one or both mating surfaces and gluing them together is a bodge.
