A neighbour runs 4 cnc bar fed lathes doing small parts that would be a short run for him though but can put you in touch he’s really reasonable on price.

I’d machine it as a press fit with the brass pin knurled/ hatched cuts so that as it gets pushed into the plastic it grips can be assembled in a arbour press or similar.

Original part would be injection moulded I would have thought.

I guess its about 30mm ish but obviously i can get the exact specs.

Metal pin and top bit need doing. Probably need to do a few of them. Maybe 500-off? Certainly an initial 250-off.

Pin is for electrical shorting, so, probably brass. Head has that irritating mushroom on the top, which prohibits simple moulding, so far as i can tell.

That resin printing would work. Filament printing would not give the finish required.


The brass bit, i assume, will be a job for my collet lathe, once i put it back together again. I mean wire cutters and a sander would so it, but i think the collet lathe will be quicker. Just not too sure about the head?

Have you searched any of the Chinese eBay /Amazon style sites ? If it's a fairly common item they may well be found within them .

Theres a bit of a "historic" / "restoration" type angle to the job, so it kind of has to be (close to) right, rather than just functional.

I think that the item you link to is just traded by them though, rather than an in-house, but, bizarrely, i think i was chatting to the person that i believe is behind its manufacture about something else only just this morning.

(i sound like some coked up club goer now - saying nothing interesting at all, but just trying to pretend they know a bunch of people!)

(Ive never done coke - for that exact reason, ive never seen it improve anyone.)
