Suds tank outlet

I have decided to make the saw coolant tank from plastic as it was free.
I need to drill a hole and make the outlet feed to the filter then the pump.
Just thinking what kind of conector to use?
Normally I would drill an use a tank connector.
This tank will have neat cutting oil in it.
Should I drill the outlet above the fluid level and have a elbow in the tank to avoid any leaks instead?

Is that a catering container by any chance?
I have used them as storage bins before and they don't seem to hold up that well so I would be a bit reluctant to put too much effort into that one incase you find it's cracked up in 6 months...

Or, a John Guest bulkhead fitting with a couple of neoprene washers would be my choice (as I have them to hand) but equally a flowmaster etc type should be fine.
A plastic would be better for the tub rather than clamping a metal fitting tight up against it.

Or, if you think you can mount above the fluid line and syphon/suck out then why not just go in through a hole in the lid with a bit of hose and forget the fitting. You could use a skin top to mount the hose if you feel it needs holding in place.

It would also make it easier when you wanted to replace the fluid and clean the tank out as you could take the lid off with lines attatched. Put it to one side, then pop a spare lid on and carry the tub away to be tipped out and cleaned.

Ah right.
In that case it might be better to mount the connector nearer the bottom.
Leave a good inch or so above the bottom as all the swarf will settle down there.

If it's mounted directly under the saw I think you will need some form of prefiltering for the used fluid that's heading back to the tank (unless you already have a catcher on the saw?)
Or, you might want an easier way of draining the tank and getting it out as it's going to fill up with rubbish pretty quickly

There are 2 other containers in the big one so the oil.drains into the first and filters out to.the 2nd then filters out to the 3rd biggest plastic one.

I have seen those containers used for commercial catering and they hold up fine for that.
But, all the ones I have collected and used for storing workshop type stuff have not fared very well.
To be fair they were all well used when I got given them although most of the ones I got because they had been stained by something .
Some of the stuff I chuck in them has sharp edges and is heavy plus they live in my shed in all weather's so they might well work fine for you.
Surely they must be resistant to cooking oil and water so a bit of suds fluid shouldn't trouble them much.

They do hold.up.well.to.cooking oil and.dishwasher.. I might still.the top center just below the lid. Rtv a gromet it and fit a bent up piece of kunifer brake line to use as a pick up pipe. Then connect the flexible pipe to that

Your type of saw might be different but the cold cuts that I have used with coolant have all produced a lot of chips that are small enough to get carried along by the flow of coolant. Ie, most of them would end up in the sump.
I think it would be a lot easier to have some sort of screen mounted on the saw that you can keep an eye on and tip out occasionally rather than having to dig around under the saw when it's all blocked up and the coolant has stopped flowing.
On a big enough scale I'm sure a sediment tank system would be fine but unless that photo is a bit deciving and it's a 100l Tub I think enough swarf will get through to block the pump filter annoyingly often.

As a rough guide, one shepards hut chassis makes about 1 litre of swarf chippings from the screen and maybe about 1/4 again that still gets through to the tank.
