Suction pump ideas ?

Ive been thinking of different ways of makeing sum kind of suction pump and just carnt come up with anything. Must be cheap as chips to make or something laying round that I can use.

Main thing it would be for is to suck break fluid through a blead nipple. I know you can buy blead kits and suction types but there just to expensive. I have sucked the fluid though myself with my mouth but its not ideal.

So anyone else made one or got ideas?

I have a vacuum pump that I have used for this. Mine is a bit too strong though and if I'm not careful it pulls air in past the rear seal in the master cylinder.

Im gessin Pete you got one of those hand held triger type manuel pumps, saw Mark Evans using one on his Trike he built, ive only used a preasure pump at the Master Cylinder but I found it so handy to suck the fluid through from a fresh setup, had it blead in no time, just dont like the taste of break fluid, lol.

Not sure, dont know how much they are. Was hoping to make something, maybe a way of using the compresor adapted to somthing to create suction. It dont have to be to powerfull as it can be done by mouth, not nice though and I dont suk for a living, haha...

Hyperdermic syringe without the needle. Cheap as chips on ebay.

If you want a powered one try a fridge motor. You will need a tank to catch the fluid to stop it entering the pump.

Those hand pumps are cheap.

I have used the pump from a spray bottle and it worked fine but slow. Attach a hose to the pickup. Works better if you have a small tank to act as a reserve. My hand pump came with a small bottle with to nipples on top.

Hehe no it's a medical vacuum pump I found when demolishing Westminster Hospital. Has a lot of suck so it does

You could use the compressor to create suction simply by blowing air over the top of a pipe a la spray painting. I guess that flow speeds and pipe diameters would be fairly critical to the suction obtained though. Wurth do one that works like this. No idea how much.

Google "venturi" - by shaping the air passages quite a powerful suck can be achieved.

The hydraulics places sell things that look like blow guns that suck.

If you want a vaccum pump look on diesel cars.
I have a vacuum pump that I used to use vacing carbon it's from the local hospital dump, neat thing with a sign on it "not for continuously draining body cavities", I was going to use a peugeot diesel vac pump till i found the pump I have.

I knocked up a vac brake bleeder but never tried it with my pump[figured it would suck past the seals], the pump does have a needle valve so you can vary the vacuum. Sucking is good enough.
How are you doing it, you want a setup with a resovoir. I use my "vac" bleeder a lot on bikes, I used to get people coming along and they have spent like two days trying to get fluid moving, wack the tube on suck some fluid through and it's done.
Pressure bleeding is the way to go though, the proper ATE bleeders work up to 150psi, I cobbled one together from ali tube I have used it at 100 psi.

There is an page written about an altered fridge pump someone was using for vacing carbon, he told me about it but I have never looked for it. Lot's of imagination on his part he called it "the little sucker", try google;-)

Hello BS,

I find that pressure rather than suction is more effective in bleeding brake systems.

The Gunson's eezi bleed is the most common and not expensive. It just uses air pressure from a tyre.
