DrNik that sounds like the kind of nonsense we used to get up to.
Amazing that we all survived and no innocent bodies got hurt.
Electric fences were another favourite.
Holding hands with a guuurl, touch the fence, no more hand holding.
Annoyed by a pillock at a bike rally? wire the fence to the zip on his tent.
On the morning with a more sober head 'whats that 'Mip!' noise'. it was the pillock trying to get out of his tent.

The exmate with the battery once tried to climb over an electric fence by putting his bike on top, very funny. A true idiot.

another time we were in my mates garden shed repairing a moped, his mum and dad were sat in the dining room watching tv, and we could clearly see them through the window, well we decide the carb was probably blocked, so we removed the carb and began stripping it down the shed was quite small and my mates sat under the bike, well petrol's dripping on his trousers so he puts a rag on his lap to catch the drips, we carry on and find nothing wrong with the carb, refit it and kick it over nothing, "i know lets see if there is a spark" so we tried with the plug lying on the engine, "nope cant see a spark", how about if we dip it in petrol, so a few drips of petrol on the plug, and "ah ha dont leave the rag there is soaked in petrol" so out the door it went , "right try now, a quick kick of the kickstart saw my mates trouser up in flames, he dives out of the shed running up and down the garden trying to pat it out with his hands, well his hands are alight and he is still patting himself down, next he is rolling around on the floor whilst i look on, my jaw has dropped and im frozen to the spot, eventually he puts himself out and his mum and dad didnt even notice as he looked barbequed, walked straight to his room to get changed, made me laugh just thinking about it, those were the days

Oh, the things we used to get up to as kids......except that I've grown up now and only six months ago I set my trousers and shirt on fire using an angle grinder. I remember thinking "God, it's getting hot in here!", as I worked my way through the metal I was cutting, then I looked down to see flames heading my way fast. Comedy moment.

one of my first welding job was welding a vauxhall carlton, inner sill was rotten, pulled the carpet back, started welding whilst kneeling down with knees uner the car, thought legs are hot, plastic fuel lines melted and dripping petrol on my knees well alight

Similar stuff, trying some welds with gas on an R4, getting a bit dark to see so pulled off the goggles. Yes I had set the head lining well alight. OOOps grabbed the extinguisher my GF had given me for the Ginetta (self preservation..) Hit the button and some powder dribbled out the end. Things got more exciting after that, but I didn't burn the 300yr old barn down.

Used to run the lighting in the school theatre. Big 500wt light needed re-angling. Stretched out over the void (30ft up) knowing that it was unplugged and got the most almighty belt. Ended draped over a beam, quit numb. Some helpful guy had plugged it in and it a previous ace had wired it live to earth. Knew who it was. He said no, but his eyes said yes.

welding the floor of a beetle one day on the owner drive, well it was jacked up on one side, i was happliy welding away when the owner said the windows where tinted, i carried on, till i decided to look in the said window, dark smoke tint, couldnt see anything, opened the door to see the car had had a fire inside and the windows were covered in soot, and everything else too, the fire has extinguished itself after using up all the oxygen , DUH!!!

Back to the electrickery, my dearly departed grandfather back in the late 40's was converting a petrol lawn mower to run off 240V and his mischievous younger brother saw fit to flick the switch. He spent his remaining mortal days in that exclusive club of talented engineers with 8.5 fingers.

I've only taken a 230v hit once when up a ladder running data cables in St George's hospital, a hidden bare live wire but I managed to stay on the ladder which was main thing!

I once was the foreman at a forklift rental company and a special electric fork lift had come in on the truck but needed to go out repaired the next day, as they always came back flat and the 3phase chargers stay with the Ftruck I had to do a quick change over. But there was only the two of us there.
I said to Brian switch off the ring main to the chargers it was 100A switched fused metal clad ! CLANG ! type isolator in the mains room, then each of the chargers had similar seperate 30A metal clad switched fused isolators. each one daisy chained to the next.
I waited for the clang off and the OK!! from Brian and in I went undid the first charger put the charger on the forks out onto the truck, in with the next one virtually had to push the truck in, still shaking from the exsertion of the heavy push, wired the charger 'SWITCH IT ON BRIAN' clang nothing charger dead 'SWITCH IT OFF BRIAN'
CLANG in I go again everything looked ok swap a phase methinks see if that does anything. 'SWITCH IT ON BRIAN' CLANG, nothing ! right get my meter check the switch supply, nothing, must have blown the ring fuses.
Go to the main isolator in the mains room bout 40 meters away where Brian was waiting to find the main isolator in the off position, I said to Brian 'its off' he said 'no its on' its in the green position !!!! GREEN MEANS GO, RED MEANS ITS STOPPED, he had put traffic light reasoning to the switch !!!!!.
So that meant I had been in the box swapping wires etc several times, whilst it was LIVE with 100A supply thinking it was isolated !!! I dont mind wiring live if I KNOW its live---- BUT!!!-----thinking it off WOW!
We got an isolator padlock after that and made sure --- YOU DID IT !!.
Trouble with electrickery is you cant see it --------but you sure can feel it when its there !!!!.

I'm with you there. Some people should have their tools taken away. You just know some people have a little common sense but some are a danger to themselves.
