Stupid money!!

I've a few mates who bought rangies..
And they break,
then it's a 4 week wait for the dealer to look at the fault..

When I ask why they have bought another one ..?

They say "it looks good on the drive "...


Just as well.. as that where it sits most of the time..

My neighbour has one...its been on axle stands all this year....hes also got a Tiguan that he uses day in day out

I've always serviced and repaired all our vehicles myself, just wondering, were dealers this bad back in say the 70's or 80's?

I know that vehicles have become more complicated over the years and less owners seem to want to get their hands dirty, ...is this why dealers are taking the pi$$ now?

I have had some really bad service from main dealers in the 60s up to the 80s, since then, I do it myself. Talking about them giving me back a car that wouldn't turn right and another that was put in for brakes and I drove it out without any, really..Even VW left me with a Kublewagon that if you touched the brakes, it dived left.
The prob now, is the elektroniks. Unless you are IT savvy and prepared to buy the diagnostic stuff, you are in the hands of the dealer.
Friend bought a decent Rangie. Parked it near here while having a nice lunch.. Three weeks later, he finally got it back after a real hassle with the local agents when it refused to do anything due to some black box failure. Cost a lot too. Plastic bargepole for JLR.

Main agents for any mark have to spend big money on the premesis and equipement and need to charge to cover that. Then we have the the premium that a new car buyer pays to expect no trouble for the period he owns it. Lets say three years. In that time, he should be treated well and, if he keeps the car longer, not ripped off.
After that, any owner needs to explore alternative outfits to look after his motor, or buy new. Obviously, any buyer who is not badge obsessed, would buy an Asian box, with a long warranty and friendly service. Beggers belief that some outfits are still in business, the way they treat their clients. Yet, the power of image...
