I have been really ticked off with myself after I destroyed not one but two Iscar carbide boring bars, my "favorite" through coolant 16mm bar and my little 6mm bar. Looking around ebay this morning it looks like everyone has twigged just how costly 16mm carbide bars are so I have succumbed to temptation and bought a 16mm bar off Aliexpress. Forty quid all in. I will report back.
Meanwhile the cheapest version of the 6mm bar is a hundred quid, I am going to have to buy one as I have a LOT of tips and they will fit only this bar. I will leave it for now and start saving.

So carried on with my toolholder, T slot nearly finished, it fits the toolpost, but needs to be a little wider to fit the storage rail.

I would be taking the angle grinder to the storage rail. Is that resin block you are using there to prototype?

No steel, I've already enlarged the slot, just about to make another one to take a bearing bar.

Same as that, ours is on the "list of jobs" but I'm putting it off as long as I can

Fitted those forged canopy brackets,fiddly as I had to pick out the old holes from the previous stainless steel ones,then align with the existing holes in the glass.

Totally disassembled and rebuilt my ICS M4A1, I've eventually discovered it is a limited edition model with licensed Olympic Arms receivers

Anyways rebuilding started with stripping the gearboxes.
Cleaning them up and installing the bushings properly.
I've used the original 6mm aluminum bushings because they are still good and really didn't wanted to go through the headache of drilling and reaming the holes to fit 8mm steel bushings.
Anyways cleaned the bushings and their seats using alcohol applied some 638 locttfl bearings and shafts locker.
Cleaned the excesses.
While it was curing I've picked up the new High Torque motor with neodymium magnets.
Measured its tower and used heat shrink tubing applied on it to snug fit it in the gearbox.
Done that I've started with the gears.
So I've installed the pistol grip on the right half of the lower gearbox, put the bevel gear and inserted the motor through the grip.
Adjusted the pinion and crown gear backlash.
Disassembled again after measuring how much side movement was present on the bevel gear
Added shims, assembled again without motor check again disassembled and shim the other side.
Done multiple times for all the gears making adjustments to get to the smallest tolerance possibile, 0.05mm roughly is what I was able to achieve
Removed two theet from the sector gear and piston rack to shorten the stroke
Cleaned and installed new parts

Made another one with more clamp screws, also the adjuster nuts.


Bearing bar made, may look for some smaller bearings, but these are what I have in my "stock".


Just need the boring bar holders finishing.
