Real oddity here,it’s a mounting for a copper weathercock that fell off a local church spire in the ‘60’s,vicar wants it displayed in the church. Waxed finish. Quite heavy,the base is 11mm.

Lengthed a Stihl chain with 4 Farmertec links.

Part of my dislike for Stihl, is because they use different pin sizes to everyone else. On this, the Stihl pin is ~4mm and the others are 3.8mm. Their pins are also shorter, not ideal to reuse.
The Farmertec pins would have been sloppy on the drive links, so instead I used the Stihl links and reamed out the farmertec. However, they are chromed, so first had to strip that with a tapered and 3mm carbide burrs.
Took longer than I wanted, but a good chain made useful.

Whizzed out a bit of stone with a grinder and hammer. Will either be pig trough or a planter if not big enough. Fault running through it though so will see how well it holds up.

Came out okay for a quick n dirty job. Will make the bracket for it tomorrow and this is going to be a quick rattle can job.

Test fit showed they'll work, although I might put a slight packer under them to prevent the rad sliding up and down.

Was just about to weld them when I was called in to try and extract a splinter from the brat's foot

After the success of turning a piece of scrap IKEA steel into something useful, I had another go.

Two spanners for the tapping head that I'm rebuilding.

I think that they need blueing now.

Re-arranged the stables feed area.

Previously we had the straw up top and higher up and it was a sod to get up under the eaves end on. We need access to the hay daily but straw probably weekly so that's why it was that way around.

However putting the straw down low we could have a lower mezzanine for the hay bale and also a another mezzanine behind it higher up above head height for more storage.

Is there not a case hardened layer you'll go through doing that, as in the reamed links will wear quicker? Not sure how exacting a standard chainsaw chain is made to...

That will be the chrome, steels soft. Yes likely to wear quicker, will it be noticable when its covered in sticky oil, Im unsure but I doubt it will be a problem.

I think that they need blueing now.

Rust blue them
It's easy, it's cheap, it's a lot durable than cold blue.
You need to mix up some salt, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
Buff the parts, degrease them, apply the solution, buff them a little bit, put them in boiling water till they get black, repeat few times

Working on my next restoration video.
I've practically completely disassemble it, I still have to remove the stator windings.
I've struggled a lot to remove the spindle and its bearings.
I definitely need an hydraulic press.
Essentially the spindle bearings failed destroying the gears, little play on the pinion bearing too but not enough to cause damages or at least not that much.
These grinders had a plastic spindle housing, they essentially mold the housing around the bearings.
I've had to grind the inner lip too allow the spindle bearing to come out, it will be the right time to use some bearing retaining compound.
Not needed really because it cannot move in or out once assembled but for the sake of safety...
Anyways I have some used but good gears for this Milwaukee in the parts box.
I've already repaired a few of those do I have a parts saved from the ones that were not worth to fix .
Replace all the bearings, clean up, polishing, painting, a new power cord and this grinder will be gifted to my brother as I already gave him another identical one

im just asking if you have put support pieces under the horizontal woods as its advisable than just screw some bolts in at either side

It's been that way (with far more weight) for four years Gaz and never had any issue.

Went to my land this afternoon
Removed the panels used to cover the pit
Fired up the Husky con saw, connected the water hose but almost no water came out .
I've used it anyways and got covered in dust.
Discovered it's way too rich, as it bogs down a lot in the cut, but managed to at least cut along the perimeter of the pit.
Almost 15cm cut it will help a little to break the granite with the Kango.
I've took out the Kango.
Layed down the extension cord.
Put the chisel and eventually discovered I can not use it...
I've forgotten an 220V adapter so nothing done essentially.
On tomorrow morning I'll be back there with the adapter and hopefully I'll be able to dig the remaining 20 30cm left .
I'm tired, things don't work in this latest period

Today I went to my land again.
Waited till the 8AM before starting this time I've got an adapter from the blue to civilian plug .
I've connected the blue plug in the kommando sockets
I go to the pit no power
Switched sockets on the reel again no power.
I've then discovered that they installed the outlet but they forgot about putting the fuses in it so, exactly as yesterday I spent an hour seeking around for an adapter eventually a screwdriver to switch the plugs nothing.
I was halfway home when I met my huncle going to his land (neighbors)
Asked if he had one and yes he had
Connected and started at 9AM
ear muffs and started to break the granite at roughly 10:30 AM I had done with the demo hammer, time to showel the rocks ,dirt and gravel out of the pit I've finished approximately at 13 o clock after maybe 10 wheelbarrows of dug material

my kango 100% promoted despite no antivibes it heavy and powerful enough but still compact and easy to use in tight spaces

Finished product for today, still need to square and level it up but the hammer is 1/3 of my bodyweight and I was completely destroyed.
