It works fine Brad and I can get it up to 28,000 rpm if necessary, I just fell over with my math (again) and didn't make the bracket long enough, soon rectify it though. I will make another but longer :-)

Finally got to the shop, after plowing snow on friday & saturday.
Dragged some 1/8" diamond plate into the shop.
The leetle half round cut out is simply for the outside contour start point, so I could nest the parts closer together, it's in an area that is not affected.

I'm trying to get more organized. I have lots of smaller electric tools and gadgets that did not come with their own dedicated carrying cases, and they were making a jumbled mess on my shelves, so I decided to start bagging and labelling them. I ordered a bunch of heat-laminating-type luggage tags and started printing labels. They're fairly thick and strong. I think they should hold up well.

Here is the first batch, with maybe another dozen labels to come later.

I ordered a number of tool bags, mostly from sellers on eBay. I didn't try to match the brand names of the tools. I ordered based on cheap prices and size.

Here are the first few shelves of bagged tools, with probably two more shelves to go after I receive more bags.

I like having tools in bags. After using a tool, you can just toss in the tool, cord, and accessories, and you can throw in some some supplies if you're taking it somewhere. The bags keep things from getting tangled up on the shelves, and they make it easy to rearrange tools based on usage.

You clearly have far too much space! Agreed on the cords being a mess but the best fix for that is to chop them short and fit a powercon connector, then a decent extension lead.

I have been tidying shed, found that with jaws removed, my chucks fit in the halfords tool box. Ground the handle rivets off - burnt my finger in the process, so I can put stuff ontop of the lid.

Unlikely to happen now but I did intend to weld/bolt the lid shut and convert the top section to be a draw.

I removed the locking bar at the back, which prevents the draws from opening whilst the lid is shut - good idea to keep it on a portable box but will be a pain here.

I tend to use most of my tools in my shop or indoors near a receptacle, so usually no extension needed, but I have a few tools that I use primarily on outdoor projects, and similar to what you suggested, those tools have short cords and twist-lock connectors, and are used with a matching female twist-lock on a heavy-duty extension cord.

Same mine are all used in the shed or within 2 meters of an outlet. Its purely for ease of storage. Tool without cable and a couple of extension cables that work for everything - welder, plasma, chainsaw sharpener, bench grinder,compressor. I only have a few mains hand held tools, one grinder, sabersaw, sds drill, bandsaw and router, all are on short cords with a powercon. The rest, whenever possible I will get in cordless.

Finished this transition piece off today, ready to cut into a much larger piece at some point in the next few days.
All internal corners have a large radius to prevent product build up in the corners.

Die grinder + alu cut burr is amazing how quick you can shift metal by a hand held tool! This is only a small 6mm burr, imagine a big one! This took seconds. Nkte on the right, be very careful near corners or it will run over.

File cleaned it up in seconds. Spot my mistake, I will start again tomorrow. I mistakenly thought I should give clearance for the centre pickup but a chamfered edge would have done it.

After my cockup yesterday, I decided to continue with it and check it will all work. The alu cut burr made quick work of the curve.

I then started the second attempt. I've learned that conventional milling is the only way for deeper, fast removal. However climb milling, with care and a steady supported hand, gives a far improved finish and works well for shallow cuts.

This shows the difference, its about 6 degrees delay on ignition.

Almost done. I cut a 1.5mm deep recess around the coils pickup so that it doesnt short it, that was after photo.
