Hi everyone,
Just a quick project today, I had to make an adaptor for my electric detailed sander so I can attach a hoover pipe to stop all the mess whilst decorating inside the house.

I made magic smoke release out of my 240 volt B&D dremel style high speed engraver .grinder tool . Switched it on bang , a bright fat yellow spark appeared in my left hand and indian smoke signals told me it is F****ed .
I'll be scouring the internet for a new motor so i can make it good again .

Used real Dremel or a proxon one you might find a pretty decent bargain

Made a little anvil out of a piece of fork I found on the pavement whilst out walking!

Yet another handrail,this complements the staircase and landing next to it,which I made nearly 2 years ago,nice to go back on old work and check it’s maturity,yes I did touch up some rust spots.

Got a cheap sand blast cabinet yesterday for free
Gave it a go on some stainless to see how well it worked, seemed fine.
I wanted to see how the blasted surface would laser etch so I blasted an old plate and put it on the laser, came out well

An etch on a landing hook, this one was scrap but serves as a good test.

how does it compare to a non blasted stainless etch? does it work better because its less reflective?

Will you just be blasting a dedicated, unmasked area for future etches, or will the whole item be fully blasted each time?

Works great on polished or even brushed.

I just wanted to see if it would also be fine on blasted.

Reason I want blasted as it is blasting seems to give an OK finish and is way easier than trying to polish out scratches or tooling marks

Probably blast the whole lot in the case of the landing hooks as it is easier than polishing or burnishing and allows bend marks to be disguised.
I will maybe have to play around a bit more as I would prefer a slightly finer finish but I was just working with the glass beads that came with the cabinet, maybe restrict the air pressure a bit would be enough or I may need to get some other blasting media.
I know nothing about blasting, just got the cabinet yesterday and I am just working with what I got

A good amount of headaches and marbles spinning
On yesterday a customer brought a 5.5kW nutools Genny stating it ran few months ago.
It arrived at lunch time while I was eating and that's already something would drive me mad.
Unloaded and everything.
Gave a look, attempted to start with the electric starter.
Nothing to do
Used little bit of starter spray and started right on.
While I was at a birthday party I went to pick up an husky chainsaws belonging another customer nearby.
This morning I've started to work on the Genny, removed the carb for cleaning it up.
It's completely clogged up can't be even disassembled.
Contacted the customer saying it needs a new carburetor.
He's reluctant and he didn't give me a call to know what I have to do.
Problem is that the Genny has to go because it taking a lot of space.
The husky T525 needs new hoses but since I have to disassemble the whole saw I said to my customer we'll replace the diaphragms and the primer bulb too.
He's a professional gardener and I've never had a single problem with him and he agreed with me tomorrow he will go to buy the needed parts

Today I finished making the fourth of my "holiday boxes" - boxes made using my travel tool chest and workbench thing. This one's another tea caddy for Keemun tea, this time made out of cherry:

Today is, alas, the last full day in Brittany and we'll be packing the car up tomorrow to head north. As Carolyn has needed quite a lot of rest time (due to the car accident earlier in the year and the still-healing broken femur), we've spent quite a bit of time at the cottage, Carolyn soaking up the sun and me hiding in the shade of the covered patio and making the most of having a woodwork kit with me.

In total, I've made four boxes, one of which I haven't shown any photos of on here yet. The one on the left of the following photo isn't, strictly speaking, finished yet (well, none of them are as I didn't bring any oil with me to coat them with). The one on the left is a little box with two small drawers and some carved indentations which will eventually have walnut knobs in the middle. My travel woodwork kit didn't extend to bringing a lathe with me so those turned knobs will be made when I get back home - I'll post a photo here when the box is completely finished.
