It'll be interesting to hear how you go with this, I've considered adding Speeduino to one of my Vauxhalls but not done anything about it.

I will sand in the joints after power washing is complete as dust is everywhere all over the tarmac.

Take a few thou off the back of the chisel and polish the new cleaned back it on the diamond stone every time you sharpen the cutting edge . ( It's how you are supposed to treat wood chisels " c

Hardly worth the bother on this sorry example but it would be good practice for me.
There's a fair bit of taper so setting it up will be interesting.

I'm away for a few days, I will have a go when I get back.

Realised the two big rust dimples were actually holes filled with lead.

Installed the sleeve onto the shaft using an anaerobic fixative. The other day, finishing grooving and polishing of the bronze. I'll fill the groove with epoxy. The original sleeve can probably be removed by annealing the rubber without fanaticism (it has a rubber layer!). So as not to spoil the original varnish of the crosspiece.

I wonder, could they be used to dull down/ alter the resonance of a ringing anvil ?

Nothing fancy, just a rather rough-and-ready rack for storing sanding stuff. I used to keep sanding belts and sanding (mostly wet & dry) sheets in a drawer, but I'm pretty sure I've lost quite a few of the sheets down the back of the drawer unit and it was always a pain to rummage through to find the one I wanted. Sanding stuff for attachment to the angle grinder and/or Fein oscillating multi-tool lived in another drawer so this frees up quite a bit of drawer space:

There's a French cleat on the back and the whole thing hangs one of the last remaining free spots on the joists:

I think I'll re-print the label that goes down the left-hand side to shuffle the sheets around a bit (to move the more often used ones nearer the bottom for easier access while it's on the cleat). I rarely use the multi-tool sanding stuff, so it's no big deal to lift the unit down off the cleat when I want to get something out of that section.

I like your design. As I've posted elsewhere on the forum, I've been thinking about ways to store my 'flat abrasive' stuff. Due to lack of space in my shop, I'd have to either hang it under a shelf or under a workbench.

There's a reason the labels cover (aka hide) the ends of the grooves that the shelves sit in.

I actually have bought one a year or so ago.
Never got the time to complete it or spend time to study in deep how to get it running.
I'm considering to buy another 126 and achieve the goal of building my own rally car.
It would either be used on a 126 bis water cooled engine or on a 4 cylinder fiat .
Most likely the 899cc because it's more turbo compatible than the F.I.R.E.
And it can run up to 1 bar of boost on stock components.
Back to speeduino its main limit I think is the lack of knock control.
After that it's a pretty good device according with the web .
It has launch control and hardcut for quick shifting.
And there's a mapping program which can create a map with auto learning option
