Was given a Titan wet & dry vacuum last night .
Closeer inspection today revealed it would not suck properly .. it had big bottle cap wedged in the stainless steel suction tube. That sorted I set about making a solid Delrin wheel to replace a missing fixed rear wheel to over come the fact that the wheel diameter is larger than my face plate I did a centre finding exercise then drilled and 8 mm hole through the inch thick Delrin disc blank .... slipped on an 8 mm mandrel tightened it up then turned it down to to the same diameter as the good wheel using the reliable MK1 eyeball gauge to get the size right
Had a play with in in the mancupboard and discovered that the wet stop sucking float was being lifted up every few seconds thus stopping continuous max suction . Solved that by removing the filter then spraying it inside & out with " Elbow Grease " cleaner .) left it 20 min to get the gunge onth filte element mobile then washed in our power shower on max jet blast inside & out. Really surprised how clean it has come . . To stop the float getting sucked up high I slipped two cable ties' in the cage that surrounds the float ......... that holds the float off the seat by about 19mm so full suck is obtained . The filter was dried out by leaving it running for 10 min .
Really chuffed with it it has far more suction my ancient 49 yr old Vax and many times the suction of a Henry I was given to play with .
Perhaps It will be the vacuum source for the dual cyclone dust extractor I'm making got our Men's Shed wood working machines . but I'll try several other vacuums I've obtained first as the Titan is very good & would be used by me my mancupboard .

Attempt at welding. Stuck a scrap bar end to help prevent warping, spent a bit of time preparing and grinding V's to hopefully get a better weld.
The top I expected to be difficult and it was.
Bottom was easy.
Made a mistake trying to use the 7018 3.2mm rods and for whatever reason they are a pain to light up. The 6013's burn much easier.
Now for most of it, I checked the bar end still rotates and all was good. Near the end a bit of splatter got it stuck. I was hoping it would be free when that ground off but had to knock it out, which put a couple scores in it.
I got it bloody hot and stuck another bar up it hoping it would form back to a round hole. Its now shrunk fit which is good I can stick it in lathe to turn it a bit neater. Wont be a problem to knock it out again.

No wonder, those welds look like it should have had another 10 or 20 amps

He wouldn't be able to feed enough rod at this current,or at least it's what happens to me...
If I use way more current than needed with 7018's the arc length increases so fast that I can't keep it lit .
Then I look at the electrode tip and I can see a very deep inverse taper on the coating and the filler at the bottom of it .
I don't know if this happens only to me or if it's normal.
I use 7018's at 90A for 2.4mm and 120 130 A for 3.2mm

Working on the new video all the week...
But skipped few days because I'm so tired from work and all the things going on at emotional level because of various problems we are overcoming at home.
Anyways I don't like it , I'm not sure if upload it or just finish the job without uploading and work on another video for next week.
I'd rather prefer to upload quality and not quantity contents.

More likely it is me, havent done any welding for ages, my problem was just getting the 7018's to light without sticking
Machine is the Sherman 206p tig.
Had to move a box out of the way and it just happened to contain the induction stuff, so set it up for a brief test. Annealing a 40mm² by 70mm (lathe toolholder sized) block of plasmacut steel.
After I turned off and wrapped in the insulation, it stayed glowing red for atleast 20 minutes.
One done one 2/3rds, handrails for friends loft, original welds broke so bit of fun for me being 1mm wall tube/box with 1-2mm gaps lol. Not pretty but rock solid and paint will cover it.
Managed to do all of one with the last piece of 1.6mm I had barely held in the torch without dipping but nice headache from staring at it for 2 hrs

Made a bit more space in the garage. Took the woodburner out. It hasnt been used since I lined the garage out with celotex. It gets far too warm to work.
Id picked up a 3kw fan heater for not a lot and it more than does the job
Put the woodburner on marketface and it had sold in ten minutes
