I agree, it was just the comment and reaction to my post that I found strange. I wouldn't charge them in a box but I will keep them as safe from damage as I can by putting them in one.

The BMFA has a battery safety booklet that is an interesting read - I'm not sure if it recommends storing your lipos in a combustible foam and cardboard box!

In the model car world, it used to be, and probably still is, a requirement for batteries to be in safety bags/containers by the BRCA, or the insurance became an issue.

I doubt they recommend it but if the manufacturer deems it safe to post, who am I to argue? I will look at the BMFA as I am a member for the insurance and if they specifically state a storage method I will comply. The chaps down at the club didn't say anything about it which probably means it is acceptable. Being new at a club usually sparks off the 'you don't want to do that' brigade.

Well worth making it so all three rollers are driven.

very nice work.

My powered pyramid rolls have an idler roller and it's always a pain to make sure it spins on thinner material or round bars, it just doesn't have enough friction, and the bearings are plain journal with oiler holes. Wish it was driven.

Eventually got round to putting the ring roller together. 10mm dia 316ss rolled into a 450mm diameter hoop in one pass made me very happy. Well worth making it so all three rollers are driven.

Very nice.
Having used a single wheel driven Ring Roller, I've often thought about building a 2 wheel driven version.
One thing that concerned me with all 3 driven is the top wheel will always be travelling less distance than outer wheels. Maybe not a problem on bar stock, but thin wall tubing it might cause issuses.

Found the aluminium today so made a couple of the balls from it and anodised them black.

Then thought I might as well make some of the extensions, only need 2 but made 4 just in case

I was peeking through the gap in the door trying not to get sprayed with coolant. Phone vertical is narrower so that is the way it goes

Just made a quick CAD model to try and interpret a dimensioned 2D sketch, that doesn't match the 3D assembly sketch, of which neither match the instructions

The longest toy car build continues. Made the steering wheel and bonnet:
Steering wheel is 3 bits of ply cut on the homemade cnc and glued up



bonnet is .5mm Aluminium textured sheet stuck to a sheet of rigid foam and ‘persuaded into shape. Not totally sold on it tbh but perfect is the enemy of good and all that…

Wow, I wish I had such kit and the knowledge/skill to use it. Brilliant!

Decided to put my logo on them
Wasn't sure how it would come out on the spherical surface but came out fine.
To give an idea of scale the capital letters are 0.5mm high.
