Funnily enough it was a Yuasa battery. Shows instructions aren't idiot proof though - so many languages on the sheet. Proper procedure was fill, leave to vent, seal, charge. Not what I did which was fill, seal, swear, debate whether I can get away without venting, carefully (and successfully) remove the seal without damaging it, leave to vent, seal again, charge.

Back in the ‘90’s I had a BMW motorbike battery in the post,from BVM I think,it came with separate bottles of acid.

Any fire/intruder alarm supplier sell them and Screwfix as well.

It is a 12Ah but it's about half the price from the local tractor factors compared to Screwfix so can't really complain.

All (*) the batteries that I've bought from Tayna have come pre-filled and superbly packaged. Ranging from tiddly UPS batteries up to very large tractor batteries on a pallet they now get my repeat business as their service is good - usually next day.

(Looks like I may need their services again - I'm trying to revive the 12v battery on my thre tool road compressor which I foolishly left to go flat.)

It’s only taken 5 hours but the panic is over. The coffee machine lives again.

Bean grinder stopped working and you could hear the drive belt jumping. Nothing jamming it that could be seen so had to strip it, pull apart the grinder, clean it up and lubricate before assembling to find the calibration, even though I’d marked up, was well out making the grounds too fine for the water to be pumped through.
Strip it apart again, fiddle with the alignment, fiddle a bit more and swear a lot, lot more as I'd still not had a coffee only the wife had.
Assembled and not powering up now. Did I mention I’d not had a coffee yet! Check everything is connected, changed the fuse and still nothing. A red mist is desending, even the dog has gone outside, and then I spot it. A ribbon cable has disconnected from the circuit board, I’ll just reconnect it. Are you kidding me. Does Delonghi hire children with tiny fingers to connect these cables up. My fat fingers and still no coffee have turned this into the most ridiculous task ever. It’s connected, I love you God and will never doubt you again. You’ve got to be kidding me it still won’t power up, the ribbon cable despite being keyed is fitted upside down. By pure luck and numb fingers I fit the correct way round. It powers up. Quickly fitting the dregs drawer, water tank and dispenser I press the button to make a coffee. The sound of coffee beans been pulverised, whilst the boiler pressures up followed by flow of hot brown liquid is the most beautiful music to my ears. At last I have a coffee and it tastes like crap as it still on its coarsest setting. Change the grind, refit the panels and preset it to my preference and it produces the most delicious coffee I’ve had since yesterday morning.

Not even a screw leftover but I may have a few loose.

Yes - that's why wifey didn't buy an air fryer - didn't have the worktop space for it.

Couldn't find any firrings local in the time I needed them, so the good ol' 3hp Makita and a chalk line was required.





It's been 2 years atleast since i took on a framing job. I've missed it.

This one I've taken on post foundations, 5 working days in so far. Will be here till completion.






Looking forward to the screeding and plastering

Could have done with that yesterday spent two hours or more looking for the darn thing . Found it outside the mancupboard area on the edge of the lawn quite by accident , where either me or my wife must have kicked it across the floor to the great outside. Fiddling with long DE rings in limited space top & bottom to tighten the nut over a long high tensile steel screw that I don't want to cut .

My Mrs would attest to the amount of time ive ignored my house hold duties, relationship responsibilities because I'm learning something new. It's an obsession when I want to learn something new it's not a normal level of interest, it's hours and days of endless reading and learning.

I'm thinking might be best to have a few options take the best paying and reinvest wisely.


Now if I could find trainable staff who care well life would be easy.

There's only so much money you can make with one pair of hands , teach someone what you know then nine times out of ten they'll feck off and do it for themselves !
