I painted 3 bedrooms , what a pain , the walls were so hot the wet edge was dry by the time I wetted the roller , then the paint went lumpy before I could find where to start again ,,, the perfectly good tin of oil based gloss had turned into minestrone soup over night , with lumps and grit in it , yesterday it was like glass ,,, then my fave harris brush decided to go '' hollywood'' all the hairs just kept falling out ,,,, so I went back to plastering ,, bonus is the render went on well and dried nicely too ,,, some days you win and some days your the landlord.

Greenhouse to water butt adapter, version 2.
The first one I made wasn't quite as neat, and didn't curl around the outer rounded edge at all. With the (temporary) use of rubber heater hose to connect to the butt, that would lead to it lifting sometimes, so this second version holds in place better. There's no welding involved - it's a piece of aluminium sheet cut and bent to shape, with a nylon top-hat thing bonded underneath (the first version was bonded on top, a more secure way but had a step up for the water to overcome), a short length of 15mm copper pipe bonded inside it, and the rubber hose connected to it. Bonded using pound-shop two-pack epoxy adhesive. A bit of mastic to smooth the path, and seal it a little bit, as it sits inside the gutter and therefore there's a step up.
It's possible to buy these, but seemingly not for the profile of gutter on our greenhouse. The lean-to has the same gutter shape (probably the same manufacturer) and has a proper thing on it, so the must have been available at one time, but all the ones I've seen since are too big and the wrong shape.

I spent the day doing my M18 screw, I'm really happy with how it came out. Original on the right, new one on the left.
I cut the thread and roughed out the head yesterday, I just wanted to get the thing assembled. Today I cut a face groove to take an HDPE washer, then machined a block of HDPE into a short tube to part off said washer.
Then onto the grip on the head, I was originally just going to knurl the top, I don't have a rotary table or a ball nose endmill so I didn't think I'd be able to match the grooves but I realised it's just a ring of 25, quarter inch holes, so I worked out the hole centres on paper and drilled them out one by one. Back to the lathe for a generous chamfer, deburr with some 600 grit paper and it's finished.
Little side project there, I made a couple of M6 Tee nuts to hold the chuck to the mill table.
Looks like this in position, the washer acts as a thrust bearing so it can articulate smoothly and it prevents the joints from coming apart unintentionally.

I used to love fixing combines, it's been twenty years since I played with one and I miss it from time to time!
Rats is my experience of them, eating looms, and lots of junction box covers all over the place.

This was the first time in 6 seasons ours has stopped us cutting, swallowed a stone at not machines fault, only other issues have been a chewed wire for a sensor and fried the GPS on the roof after I brushed some power cables.

I used to fit fire supression system to Combines in the past. Took 3 days to route the pipes.
It is a shame more are not being fitted.
Get yourself some 2 or 3mm much easier, if you dip the tip, stop clean and re start, let the plate cool before laying your next bead once the job gets heat saturated things can get messyA mess mainly but a few I’m not ashamed of

Not a combine but this went up about a mile from me last week.
Notice a tire is missing, it's sat about 50 feet away in a twisted heap, not sure if it jumped that far or was dragged but lots of people in the village heard it go bang.
