Not today but got to a decent milestone. Just a few finishing bits to the structure then it’s the inside to landscape as per Mrs79 requirements. It’s not mine waiting on a batch of buttons to fix the twinwall properly

Flat. And getting it on is an absolute pain in the freckle.

My mate who helped commented it must be married - looks good but getting it to bend over is hard work. Well that’s the slightly better version anyway. Made me laugh

my folks have a 15 meter one, luckily i was away the day they put the sheets on!!

Letter painted on reverse of the glass, and backfilled with blue glitter. Not perfect, I need to allow more drying time between layers.

I want to do more of these. I've got a thing for signs and lettering lately.

Mrs79 works with a guy who bought his for stupid money. They’re several thousand. A crew to build the thing is extra.

Luckily they come with instructions

I do a lot for a salmon outfit so I got the tubes from them. Guy who’s plant I look after has an auger for his 360 so he did the holes. The main expense was the twinwall.

Not really but it’s all relative. They last a good few years but these are the next best thing, apparently.

Designed in Shetland for their wind. The idea is they’re sturdy without being too rigid. I think they get hotter than a poly tunnel and it’s more consistent. Once they’re up to temperature they seem to stay there. I’ve seen them at 30+ with snow outside. That’s the twinwall.

On the final straight of the log-splitter for my pal, I just need to sort the coupling between the jack screw and the driving drill. I had a random socket jammed on there, but when power was applied and it started biting into the log, the socket started to spin..... .

Have a possible solution in mind which I'll try in the next few days, but progress is progress......

Pottered a bit today. Made some large thick washers for my machine vices, could have bought some but i thought they would be a good candidate for trialling some cold blacking.
Came out... Ok. Not amazing. But good enough that I'd do it again. Pictures make them look worse than they are, and the parting off finish wasn't the greatest to start with.

Today I made progress.
Last week I decided to try contact lenses, mainly for when I am on the bike as trying to look through vari focals at junctions is not the best as it distorts the vision. In the car it is ok as I can just look over the top of the specs but on the bike that doesn't work as the skid lid is in the way.

Anyway they are brilliant for the bike so I thought I would see how they were for general use, seemed fine until I tried welding, couldn't really see the pool that great when tig welding so was disappointed.
Today I wondered how things would be with my old reading specs, they are not very strong as they were my first ever specs from probably 10 years ago. With the contacts and the readers I can see fairly well when tig welding so I reckon a pair of prescription safety glasses may just be on the cards, even better they will be tax deductible

The results, not brilliant but then I am not brilliant at tigging steel anyway.

I’ve got a similar jack as that Slim, I welded a large nut on in place of the bit where the handle fits so I could run it up with a rattle gun.

My local optician knows me now - and warned his newly qualified assistant the other day . . . I go in with a tape measure, and a piece of paper with lengths on . . . my prescription bi-focals are set for my preference for text height on drawings on a desk, and drawings on a CAD screen, with another pair for distance and screen - which allows me to see what speed I'm doing when in a car

Safety specs are going to be a third setting I think - distance and arms length working.

So work out where you want to focus, and go armed with a tape measure

Ive tidied shed a bit and have regained access to the lathe.
Hose barb adaptors for vac filter.

M10x1 to hose barb adaptor, with 1/8" bsp on the side for a gauge, needs tapping.
