It feels good but I will give it a bit more testing and if I still like it I will order up some 2" bar and make a couple of one piece ones up.

Who guessed screwdriver rack?
There's a small bearing under the disc to let it spin, it's a bit free spinning and bit wobbly though, I might remake the bearing holder to fit two bearings with some preload, or maybe I'll just pry the shield off and pack it with really thick grease.
The holes in the disc are all 3mm, unfortunately half the screwdrivers have 2.5 or 2mm blades so some of them are a bit loose in the rack, and one of the 3mm ones is really tight for some reason. Hopefully it doesn't bother me because I can't think of a simple solution.

Trouble with those dregs is that it will now be seen as a challenge.
I heard a story from Australia about a village who were supplied water via a surface pipe that crossed strean/ditch. The kids would swing on it and break it thus cutting off the supply. After repairing it many times the solution that lasted was to make it strong enough for the kids to play on. So cast that in concrete and let them kick themselves stupid.

Cocked up my cruicible tongs. Being left/both handed, but adapted to right handed stuff, I hate lefty designed tools.Stuck the bloody handle on upside down. 
Next to work out the pivot and closing handle.
Feel Im starting to get the hang of stick welding. It really helps to be in the upper range amps. These were with 1.6mm's rods at 60A, 2mm sheet.

Fed up with working 'against my left hand' and having little room when adjusting the spindle height on my Amolco, I found a bolt with the same thread and started to make a modification. Have gone from this....

Turned from a piece of Delrin to gauge 'proof of concept' and it'll work I think [only 'jury-rigged' at the moment]. I'll Araldite it in and if it works I may turn a new knob/handle from steel or aluminium in due course.
Foolishly, I decided to try my new knurling tool [just to see
] but because the chuck had very little to grip due to diameter, and Delrin is 'slippery', when I started knurling the Delrin worked its way out.....

I supposed I could have used a tailstock or conventional steady but it was getting late, I didn't want a hole in the end, I had cold feet and as said it's only a mock-up.
Actually I'd prefer it in ali, but we'll see.
