Element stretched to about 3 meters and test fit on a lump of delrin.

I've wrapped a core drill in a bag, lots of pvc tape, 3 meters of 6mm tube and more tape. I did think about ease of removal. I should have wrapped the core drill in a few layers of paper first, as the drill is not going to pull out of the bag easily.

Then messy job mixed up some clay, probably too wet, theres about 1L used in this mix, and made a pot. Its now sitting behind the dehumidifier to dry it out.

As @James1979 if I have a hole in my RPM I'm doomed, so I'm mixing in Sika Hydrofuge, which allegedly makes it water tight.

Time will tell, that's about half done, more tomorrow...

Bloody cold fingers is what Ive made. Freezing outside, and I'd left my clay and water out. By the time I realised my gloves were too messy to come in for warm water.
It had dried out reasonably nice. I pushed a peice of shim down the gap, all the way around with some wd40 and heat gun.No chance to get it out without making some clearance, and it started to crack - its still damp and soft, so no problem. I cut along the crack.

Crucible fit is about right, I think there space to get tongs in there - which I still need to make.

Stretched out the element so I should get about 15 amps/3.7kw.

Edit: the element still needs to be trimmed but it fits and should be mostly self retaining.

Its going in an opened propane cylinder. Perlite insulation. Using a PID thermocouple controller, it should be accurate enough for heat treating.

I think you are right.

Straight pein, needed one for a while but I've been putting it off. Just need to finish off the handle and it's ready to go to work. EN19 and hickory handle/oak wedges.

Wima X2 capacitors translated to conductors.
Power section is now in working condition.

What is an LFT?

Accutate enough for heat treating and hot enough to melt brass? This will be worth seeing.

I hope so, others have done similar. VOG uses a simlar one with brass, good videos, he is respecting the UK plug current limits, only taking 10 amps, so I should have more than enough power at 15A, if the elements survive.

My clay pot has dried down to 15% moisture on the surface, will start heating it tomorrow with the element.
I ran out of perlite insulation so ordered a huge 100L bag and 20L of sodium silicate binder.
