I'm thinking it might also be stronger if you can successfully embed rods & plates into the printing out exercise , but that might require quite a bit more thought & making notes of your ideas during the brain storm sessions as to how to do it .

I wondered that. Maybe you would print to a point, drop the reinforcement in then carry on? Allowing for it in your design file?

No need to, you can get fibre laced filament. Heat is the biggest killer

Ah ... That's cheating using a posh machine and cutting fluids .. I have the antique Sphere cira 1943 so don't have a wet set up ( not likely to either ) I usually cut everything dry or or use a spot of compressor oil on an artist paint brush or use WD40 through the tube attachment if I need lube. Might try and do that and see if I can get a better finish instead , it never occurred for me to use lubrication ..

You need to keep nylon cool and I would think that more important than actual lubrication but...
I use flood all the time on the Triumph as well and always when turning nylon.

I did not have any problems with the Delrin that I made handles from if I did not do many consecutive cuts. Perhaps take a couple of cuts, do something else for a couple of minutes then have another go, at home we are not up against targets so no hurry.
It did not occur to me when I was doing it but compressed air would take away some of the heat, if I remember, I will try it next time.

Customer needed this lead weight cut in half. So I set it up on and angleplate in the bandsaw but I was having no joy. Blade kept jamming. Lead was so soft it was just deforming under the clamping forces. So I draw around it, plasma cut a template, welded and bashed some 5mm around the outline and we had a mould. Chiselled the rest of the lead into two halves and now we have such.

starting weight 4kg. Lost 315g to the saw and slag

I have to admit that the only nylon I have turned was some replacement rollers for the shower screen which were small but quite detailed so all the cuts were light. The delrin I did manage to melt but as it was tapered between centres it was probably spinning a bit slower than ideal.
I still think cooling it with compressed air is worth a try next time I go near the stuff.

Yes you can, with some G-code tweaking.
M601/602 will pause and resume.
Probably you also want to move the head away so G60/61, store and restore position, will be helpful.

If you print with support you need support blocker in the void or load 3D of the insert and set it not to print.

I then decided to drain the table and give it a quick clean out, quite a bit of sludge.

Delrin is quite a different animal to nylon Delrin turns like a dream , allowing you to get near polished finishes if your cutter is correctly ground and stoned off.

Er40 collet chuck. I eventually got it clocked in with the dti reading 0.002mm runout and 0.004mm for the taper angle. Took hours to get compound set up!
First time using the big boring bar, makes a massive difference. Recut the taper but resulted in the bore being 1mm oversize.. had to face and shorten by 4.3mm to get it on size.

Also aquired a burnt ear thanks to the swarf.
