After all that hard work, is that what it thought.
I had bought a used brake master cylinder for one of my xj650s, but it was missing the half clamp. I know, I could have found another, but where's the fun in that. First job for my Cincinnati dividing head. Wife asked roughly how much it cost - probably around £240 I reckon....
Interestingly (maybe), I allways wondered why these were labelled "up" - well they're not symmetrical, and the machined flat surface on the top edge is set back by 50 thou or so.

Nearly finished, the side plates will be replaced with brass onesI think I may thin the wheels slightly as they are supposed to be on a carriage but I only had train wheel castings handy

In the early 60's, I was 9, my 15 year old neighbour made a similar gun barrel in metalwork at school. Bonfire night was spent opening up bangers, putting an increasing amount up the spout followed by a bit of tissue and a ball bearing. He held it in a vice placed on the floor. How we didn't kill ourselves from a ricochet or blown barrel I'll never know.

Made a little set of blind transfer screws in 5/16 BSW for a small self centering 4 jaw that needs mounting to a backing plate.

I did that as well, I found a bit of 1/4 brass tube & used that as a barrel. It would fire a 1/4 ball bearing from a bicycle bottom bracket straight through both sides of a heavy oil drum. I tried it with a double load, 2 bangers, not a success as the barrel split. The other one was banger guns from a bit of 1/2 copper tube, 1/2” bolt with the head cut off as a bullet, how did we survive, good fun though, the kids today are missing something

We used to get 2 x 1/2 bolts and a nut screw them in with a wadge of caps from a cap gun between then throw it on a hard surface . If you got the positioning right one of the bolts would blow off. Fun with a steep learning curve. We also played Wars using air guns wearing thick jackets and metal eye shields with thin cross slots to see thro. minimum range allowed was 50 yards.
