Let us know. Exhaust company I do bits for have nightmares as you can imagine. 300+ exhausts a year. 20% or more are scrap and need to be redone or sold as seconds.

what bothers me is they are expensive for the poor quality, im open that i want to pay for a top job but doesnt seem like that work either

It was GB hard chrome in Basildon.
Irony, took them back to have chrome striped off to see if I could repair and they said what cowboys only laid two thou!!! I paid extra for a thick layer and told them so

We specify chrome thickness on our part drawings that need it - and request a certificate from the platers stating what it is. Used them for years.
Then we ran into a few issues after having to go to other platers around the country to get the sheer volume of parts we needed - on going back to the original place to check we found they didn't have any way to measure thickness, and never had . . . they'd guessed - pretty well infact over the years. . . Needless to say, to keep our thousands of pounds of business, they have a tester now amd have improved processes which benefited their bottom line too . . .

what are hockley enterprises like these days?

I have Robert Stuart Ltd on my doorstep in Harlow, not very obliging for small jobs. They recommended Hockley Enterprises. They also told me they send fiddly stuff to Hockley. The sort of work that needs strategically placed electrodes to get an even depth of plating.
I've only used Hockley for drum zinc plating of nuts and bolts, worth it just to get them clean. Citroen DS so loads of M7 and M5 in two different pitches.

Another lathe tool holder. 3D printed Dickson holder for the M300, it's modular so I can add more positions but 14 is enough for now - hangs on the top edge of the chip tray...

I have seen a couple on thingiverse but I need the fusion file to adjust it as mine are T2 Dickson holders so I can't find any that fit.

Made a small Roof for a basement window

The welds look worse on photo than in real (a smiley should be inserted here but somehow they don't work)

Painted everything with leftover red paint, drilled some threads and installed it

Last Friday was an 'in-service' day and we were all working from homes, so online Teams meetings all morning but the Rector (headmistress) have us the afternoon off as 'health and wellbeing' time. That morning there was an all-staff Teams meeting (with cameras) for all teachers and staff, and a colleague in another faculty broke the monotony by chatting to me on WhatsApp... she's quite sporty and told me she was wearing tight yoga pants so I cheekily asked for a photo as, well, she has a lovely rear end and thighs. I saw her get up and leave the meeting to return a moment later having taken a photo, which she then sent to me on WhatsApp!

Anyway, she wanted something in return and asked for something sparkling and derived from grapes. Might give her an old, use saw blade too...

i have 2 3phase motors that i had stripped down to get at the star point, well i got that far about 7 months ago since then i have been non stop 7 days a week mostly, some weeks are only 6 days feel like im slacking

any how i finally got around to wiring them up and testing them out, these old motors do run smooth one is for the surface grinder which will be a big improvement mostly just for the slow start which should stop the wheels from skipping, the other is a baby mill i will be selling to my inlaw






gave up freezing to death so as the dirty work was completed i bought them home to complete


Tomorrow ill do the Harrison motor

i have 2 3phase motors that i had stripped down to get at the star point, well i got that far about 7 months ago since then i have been non stop 7 days a week mostly, some weeks are only 6 days feel like im slacking
