I think I will bond lower bits, then add the contacts before joining the top.

Started on a female socket for the 12v. Cut peices to size, tiny bit of superglue onto battery, then ABS slurry to join each peice. Might be a challenge to get apart but it is a test more than anything.

More TVR progress, seat brackets now tacked in place ready for full welding when I get the chassis out from under the body tomorrow.

Annoyingly though my favourite tungsten scribe fell apart

2 bottom frames built one had to be taken apart not been used decided to have it open plan instead other house is having it done though



first job for person forwarded on from a known person another load of propertys to do as well already been advised theres more work to continue

and yes i still have chest issues but ive got to carry on best way i can do

Today I reached a bit of a landmark in my first proper wood-bothering project. I'm still finding this cellulose stuff a bit odd compared to metal, but I'm getting there.

This is just a dry fit to see how it looks; I still need to do lots of sanding, some gluing and lots and lots of coats of varnish/oil mix.

Over the course of the last week I've been applying coats of a mix recommended by MikeG on the ukworkshop forum: equal parts Tung Oil, varnish and white spirit. The resulting liquid is daubed thickly and drippily all over the wood, left for ten minutes and then wiped off. 24 hours later, it's all rubbed down with 0000 wire wool and then another coat applied.

It's SO much nicer to apply than most other finishes (e.g. paint) I've tried in the past as you don't have to worry about the thickness or about any drips: it all gets cleaned up when you wipe it off after ten minutes. It looked pretty much the same after one coat as it does after five, but I guess the later coats make it a bit more robust. As you're not trying to have clean brush strokes, I didn't even bother cleaning the brush: just used a disposable one and wiped it with a bit of paper towel after each coat. It gradually became more solid during the coarse of the week, but it was still perfectly capable of lifting the mix out of the jar and depositing on the wood. I still hate this stage of any project, but it's a lot less unpleasant than most finishing jobs.

The finish was applied to the frame separately from the top and the shelf. I also applied a couple of coats to the "buttons" that hold the top and shelf to the frame. Today I fitted it all together:

Well I have probably just made the World's heaviest duty monitor stand. All I had lying around was 10mm plate and 6mm box and angle. I milled out a section at the back to make it lighter and for access. Brackets on top to hold a centre speaker.

Yes welds look awful but won't be seen and more than strong enough. I didn't want to do full welds and risk distortion.

Is it really as simple as pumping the fish water up to the roots and letting it drain back down or have you got to monitor everything to keep the fish alive?

It's that simple - or seems to be.
The automatic drain bell syphon was the only bit that took some finessing.[1]
I *hate* *hate* *hate* plumbing.

Something i discovered though: 20mm pvc conduit fits the "small" side of a 21.5mm pvc tank bulkhead fitting, saving drilling out.

[1] flood/drain system: the planter tank fills until it reaches the top of the bell syphon, it then empties, allowing oxygen to the plant roots.

We had a system that the college I was working at was meant to be getting, trout in bottom so got crop of fish and crop of plants, but it was a ball ache getting it
all to work as the flow of water has to be just perfect to get enough oxygen in for the fish but not too much water for the crop, dependant on what you have (this was a comercial small system but I dont think it was finessed enough to be useable)

Started making a storage box for the back of a mates truck.
To long for my folder (and it’s not a box pan) so made a staggered cut along the fold lines.
Next step is welding.

Bit more glueing

Some easy holes with drill, no roots, concrete, bricks or other crap this time, they took less than a minute each.

Cut out and repaired cracked step.

Fit is good, much better than I expected

Then using a paper template I made new gaskets for my pump.



The nice sound of metal tapping out the shape was very musical.

I need to replace my gasket wad cutters.



Not perfect.
But the design of the pump made the distance between the bolt holes and the edge of the flange made the cork easy to split.
The bolt holes were cut using a copper pipe sharpened.
