I've been having a problem with mice getting into a kitchen cupboard through an over size hole in the back of it for the stop tap. Unfortunately where I think the mice are getting in from outside is covered in decking so need a clear couple of days to lift it and sort properly. Made a quick plate to cover the hole as a temporary solution. Would usually make something like this from wood but had nothing thinner than 18mm so used a piece of scrap 2mm aluminium.

You should have kept it as a plate and drilled a single hole for the spindle unscrewed the bar holding screw . put the plate on with glue then put the bar & screw back in place as a mouse can get through a 1/4 " hole /gap .
Thing is the mouse is coming in through the wall … so the plate will still allow it to come into the kitchen .
Buy a couple of packs of Neo Sorexin CD rat & mouse killer and put a cut open one inside a jam jar wih a screw top lid 7 a 3/4 hole in the lid . lay it on it's side in the cupboard . if you notice th posion has been consumed replace it till you reach the stage of no more being eaten ..the problem is solved. For the time being .

If you don't like the idea of the Sorexin buy a steel bodied mouse trap ( they are the best around ) & bait it with bacon rind , pop it close to the stop tap , refill the cupboard check it daily . If you catch still set it & keep checking it … mice & rats follow an incontinence pheromone trail which hangs around for a few weeks .. a new mouse will smell & follow the strong trail as it knows it's safe return and on a food route .

Have to make it in sections as shown as the workshop is full of ****e useful items.

Managed to get the trusses and purlins creosoted this weekend, now need to book a day off work to buy the sheet materials and roofing felt, then replace it over the course of a weekend.

Putting a 1200mm extension over the end with a double door, along with an entry ramp, and a 100-150mm over hang on the remaining three sides for drainage.

Currently looks like this, although the roof has sagged considerably more in the last 6 months



Not good considering there’s the best part of £12k in tools and parts inside it.

Today I spent some time making jewelry, at lease that's what I refer to it as it is tiny. 2.6mm dia pin with a 2mm hole up it for a spring. I used to have a little Peatol for this sort of stuff, maybe I should buy another?
What I should really do is stop being so lazy and make some HSS form tools.

They will be doing well to get inside the walls, they are single skin . Unfortunately they can still get under the floorboards though.

That would have been a neater plate. I got fed up of emptying the trap after the 6th, hence putting the plate in so we can use the cupboard again. The gaps are no bigger than 1mm so shouldn't get past.
If all goes to plan I will lift the decking over the next couple of days and block up where ever they are getting in from the outside.

I know its not metal but i managed too finish these display shelves made from MDF today they are about 6 feet high, The person said make them coral colours? oh well lets see how they like them. Lego man for scale.

Today I’ve been sewing.
Got some off cuts of leather, my mums old sewing machine and made a low profile tig torch sheaf. Not perfect but I’m happy.

I have supplied an L bracket that gets fixed to the top and allowed a wall fixing, But it is a good point you raised as many people do not see the danger of furniture falling on people, I remember the Ikea drawer units that crushed a toddler it was shocking.

I didn't make this, my brother did... but I helped make sure it went well... things like extending the old trailer chassis properly, and widening the axle in a strong enough manner. He's not an engineer, but has picked up this fabrication lark like a duck to water.

Needs blasted and painted, and will be getting wooden flooring and sides in. Should last longer than our other silage feed trailers without needing repairs, anyway
