I will paint it, I just haven't had time yet. I was waiting until I'd completely stripped the bandsaw down (which involved a small ordeal getting the worm-shaft out). I'll then paint the base at the same time as repainting the bandsaw. Of course that might take a while as I need to wait for a good weather weekend day when I've got nothing else on...
good idea, why not stick a decent magnet on them, then you can move them around as you need. Think it was @8ob that did it that way.... simple but efective.

Today, because it's absolutely Baltic outside I made a little progress with the 'decorative' conch light I'm making.
Soldered [never been a strong point of mine
] the wires (c. 1mm) and LEDs together - you'd not believe how many times you can burn your fingers/hand when working that close up and have compromised sight like mine 
.
Anyway, got that done and ran them for a few hours to check they weren't going to overheat - all OK. So I've now jury-rigged the shell to check the same, but it seems fine too. Now all I have to do is fix the LEDs inside the shell, the shell to the prepared oak base and job's a good 'un
It's tricky to get a decent pic on the phone due to the wide dynamic exposure range - it is more even overall in the 'flesh'.

No, this is the first one I've made - there may be others once I see the reaction to this one, though.
Trouble is, currently I need more 'projects' like a hole in the head. 
Subsequent ones ought to be easier now I know what I'm doing, though 
Someone on here [you?] did suggest those when I first posted my plan.

Made a stainless bench frame for a fisherman to use for mending creels on.
Then I was able to use that frame to use as a bench instead of the bit of Alu box in the vice, to make another.
I then chopped up some 3" dia x 1/4" wall 6082 tube in preparation for making a davit, have to wait until tomorrow for some 10mm sheet to arrive before I can start welding. I am now at home in the warmth and about to draw/code for cutting the sheet out on the plasma.

I would if they weren’t for the workshop on a magnet they can be moved another reason for this is to have points where grinders will be especially the cordless ones saves time over looking for one

Today I cut some smooshed wood up with a peice of light and made a monster...
My am dram group is putting on a panto and muggings here is the prop master / stage manager / assistant director / everything else. We need a monster for an under the water scene so I found a nice design online and put it through the laser and with some cardboard and a little hot glue (that's like brazing right) out came our monster here after known as Monty

Got the Aluminium delivered just after 12 so onto the plasma with it and cut out some bits.
Got the davit/web tacked up.
I seemed to be getting a lot of soot and the weld was not the most stable. I had noticed this the last day or so I was up at the Cat. Welds were ok but just not as nice as they should be. I checked the gas flow with the peashooter and it was fine, so started messing with inductance, voltage trims etc but still just wasn't right. I then discovered this.
The diffuser must have cracked and broken due to the heat and although I was getting 17LPM flow it was not being diffused correctly and thus giving me the problems.
Welds after that were back to normal although I had to tweak things that I had previously adjusted to get back to where I was happy.
Have as much done as I can today as I will have to go and test fit on the boat tomorrow as I will have to offset the lower section due to the shape of the boat.
