Oh I forgot I also made some spanners to fit a 3" Octagonal nut, used to do this kind of thing on the Chiron and it would take a good while, on the plasma it is just minutes.

There is; the internal 1.5mm deep rebate for the trophy to sit in/on - I explained I can't do that.

This afternoon I took some time to replace the wirings on the compressor motor
I decided to use different colours to help to recognize the fields when I will go to connect them in star configuration to the new contact plate when I will decide to buy one
I will probably end just connecting them using forboxes but for the moment I leave the wires longer than what I need because is always better cutting something than joint it
So now I have to purchase a plastic box ,4 screws ,a Pg 13.5 cable holder and maybe a contact plate
About the motor , since I have it opened I am thinking to replace also the ball bearings because it's already open and probably is the best thing to do
I have to figure out how to remove the fan without breaking it because the puller can't grab underneath it , and I can't hit with the hammer forcing to come loose because there is another key on the shaft
Maybe in these days I will probably find a solution

I'm aptemting to refuse the idea of make a steel pig money bank (I don't how I should call it) openable only using an angle grinder and fill it with coins until I can't even move it
All this to keep money to buy a lathe and a milling machine

A few years ago I paid my friend a fiver in coins, welded between two stainless pipe caps. He spent hours going at it with a blunt hacksaw.

That looks awesome hood.
If you wanted a little side line,
1.5" 2" and 3" rjt spanners are expensive and used a fair bit in the dairy industry.

Also today I have managed to sort out a little bit more of the garage.

Ran a 10mm pressfit gripflex airline to the tyre bay and the retractable air line for ease.
Also done a bit of loft boarding for more storage as running out of space.

Restoring this for a friend, made a load of new drawer fronts, just knobs and stain and polish to sort now.

More MIS education. 3 well used cold chisels. All with mushroomed heads and 66% with damaged cutting edges.



Not all were this bad when they were donated. But it is how they ended up.

So the plan was hatched to bring them back to use. Grinding and sharpening the cutting edges, removing the mushrooms, hardening and tempering,(done at my play pen) and a general tidy up.



This one was done on the bench grinder. The MIS members were a bit put out when they had to read and sign the H&S rules.



Hand tools, and a insight on how versatile and 4.5" grinder is.



The 4.5" grinder lessons were used to save this bolster chisel.

The cutting edges were heated to a cherry red, then quenched into cold water. This was done by me. I was concerned that the members may not be ready for a Oxy kit.
Then the 4.5" grinder was fitted with a sanding disc and the members cleaned the edges up.
Then it was showing the members how you can watch the colour travel up the tool.
Then a dip into clean oil.

Job done. Coffee and doughnuts all round.

One of the 2 big Die holders.
This was sized with hard oil, grease, dirt and rust. But the die was sharp.
Heat was used to free off the parts, oddly hidden inside the handles was the original colour.




The die slides as does the 2 leg clamp. This is to centre it on the base.
Yes I could of replaced the broken part, but it was original.
Every bit was stamped with the makers name.


The blue was matched as best I could with a Blue from a rattle can. It is not a bad match.





This is an American made Die holder. But with a mix off BSW BSP dies.






The brass retaining cap, holding in a square die.



A "Hybrid" de-rusting tank. Hot washing soda to remove the oil and grease, electrolysis to remove the rust.
Both Die holders are in that mix.






To be honest the brass on this tool is poor, it would not take an even shine.
The black was a simple black gloss from a can, as the original was black.
The 3 other dies are sharp and show little use.






All done.

The next is try and find the rest of the 2 kits.
Not for the tools, but they were either Beech or Pitch pine.
