We’ve a 2x3m waterjet coming in a few weeks

My friend has one at his work, used mainly for cutting glass but he got some 60mm thick steel cut for me when I was making the first turret on my lathe, amazing machines by all accounts.

Yes, this will slice through 180mm steel. Its part of an engineering firm we’ve bought.

The metal moth has attacked it, but a bit of metal filler sealed and sorted most of them.



It will take it's place in garden. I have filled it with "Insect Repellent Oil" and it is in use as I type.

Today I cut some bits out of 8mm steel for a guy that goes by the name of Snack Beard the Yoon or something like that

I cut the holes undersize and will mill out to final size on the Chiron.

Today, among other things done, I made a hole......50mm through 10mm plate using the largest of my Banggood hole-cutter set. It was hard going and took ages, [I have no idea of what grade the steel is, it's 'skip booty' ] with the drill jamming frequently despite light pressure and copious applications of oil. In the end I had to drill through from the other side to complete the cut. Maybe I'm expecting a lot from the poor thing , but the biggest drill have I could use on the lathe is 16mm blacksmith's shank.



Another one to do yet, then I can proceed with Plan A for the hydraulic bench press.

Couldn't you mount a plate on the chuck face plate and score a hole onto it?

Don't know the make or if it has a 3d head. They are just one with putting the slab in at the moment. There’s more room need for all the water treatment etc, It has a 30ph motor for the compressor

Yes, I have done that. Drilled it out to 16mm and was going to enlarge it - it's still in the chuck but I think it'll be quicker to use the hole-cutter.

My partner rescued this kids tricycle tandem last week ,from the skip at the nursery our twins attend,as well as a giant articulated car transporter( it pees me off the stuff they throw out,whilst at the same time have regular fund raising/ scrounging pleas),so it needed a new wheel as it’s got 2 flats,how the hell! A wheel was found off an old portapak trolley,so an axle was made ,drive spigot & cranks welded in then reassembled.oh & a grease groove in the axle.

Aye, but I think they only have screw-cutting tips in - I must check to see in I have tip which would fit, to make them 'multi-purpose'.
