Day 2 of being left alone..
Mrs TYA and Mini Me away. But planned lay in did not happen. 2 reasons.
UPS man knocking on the door at 06:30, but an old issue meant I as already awake.
So to play.
Prep the curry in slow cooker, rice soaking. Coffee machine reloaded, cd changer reloaded. Nerf Guns, reloaded and set out. Mini Me due home anytime. You have to be ready for the unexpected.
Record 71 1/2 Router plane.
Looked good, but looks are deceiving. The guide would not sit square on the base. It was not the guide what was wrong. But a warp in the base, so strip down. 200 grit paste, 8mm sheet off glass and a mug off coffee. A long time passed. Ken Bruce was doing "Pop Master". It is now flat and the 3 blades were also treated with a lick of a stone. Just to put a edge on and remove the rust.
The Base, cutters and other bare metal were coated with had wax dissolved in Linseed oil. The handles were steeped in linseed oil and polished.
Woden Mitre Clamp.
A Nice example, fully working. One clip holding a jaw in place was needed. But a "C" clip was soon found. The paint work cleaned up nicly and was waxed with Bee's wax and the shine is good I think.
Oh yes, the meter you see in the top picture is a damp meter, just needed a new battery.
Record 78 Plane.

Not bad, not complete. Missing the fence, but that cab wait. I knew the blade was damaged. I got 20% taken off the price. Sadly no replacement blade was found. Plus my green stone sharpener is in Liverpool. Not happy about that.

The blade just fitted my honing guide and on a 200 grit stone I set to work. Mr Vines was still jabbering on when I finished. But on the first cut on pine the cutting edge "burred over". Googles helped. I warmed it the red heat, evenly over and quenched it into water, then warmed it dark straw and dipped into oil. Re honed to 20deg. It is a mean edge.
The metal work was again polished and sealed with clear lacquer. In the future I mat paint it. We will see.
Vampire Wooden Plough Plane.
This thing seriously testing me. Any one hear me cussing it?
It is now in bits and cleaned. But it bit back and drew blood. The brass ferrules on the beams managed to "acquire" a burr. No I don't know how. Sadly trying to remove it the remove the burr is spilt into two. So a braze repair and dipping into hair based ammonia has aged it and allow me to refit it.
