Thanks its Home made but i did pickup the tooling already done or shaped, Ive got a few photo maybe I should post a separate posting on the press and the brake.

Going to do a quick 'n easy repair to keep it wind & water proof,

Well, to be more accurate, my very helpful neighbour did almost all of the temp repair as I've been knackered after any exertion these last two days.
Appointment made for tomorrow a.m. just to be sure there's nothing else sinister lurking.

Last time I saw this one with a similar[ish] symptom, she had me in hospital by ambulance which she wanted to come straight to the surgery - only by arguing my corner did she allow me to take the car back to the house and shove some stuff in a bag.
Ambulance arrived before I has finished 'packing' and I spent 5 days in hospital on IV a/biotics. Hope it's not the same this time, as I was planning a visit to my Brother just outside Edinburgh as of Monday....

Did I say she's very thorough?

Still alive. Low blood pressure, bloods taken and a review of meds following results tomorrow. .Paradoxically, one of the meds is to lower blood pressure & I've been taking it for years at insistence of one of her colleagues.......sure is working atm

What i have left are slightly shorter than I thought slightly over 240mm I would have to weigh them or shipping if they are long enough depending on what size folder your gonna make.

Day to myself. Or "Day in Playpen"

House to myself. stew and dumplings in slow cooker, CD multi-changer fully loaded.
Heater working, coffee machine working.

Stanley spoke shave. Does not look that much was done to it. But the paint and sticker was original. So I decided to keep it. The blade was trying to be a saw blade. Being a small blade it would not fit the honing guide. So I made a "Jig" to make it fit. It was ground to 30deg and then sharpened to 20deg. The shavings you see are from old bit of oak.


Sargent Block Plane.




A Rusty lump. A rusty seized lump.
Hot electrolysis. Hot water kept at 90degc By a "Recycled" tea urn. The a wire brush. The brass fixings did not want to clean up. The blade needed to be reground and sharpened. But the biggest crime was that some one had used "Metal filler" To hold the adjustable mouth in place. That was a real pain. Tested on the oak again.

Not much needed to this tool. But the wooden stock was very dry. You could almost hear the wood going "Glug Glug" So break some bee's wax into a old tin, add linseed oil to make a old fashion wood treatment. Then using a old cotton rag apply.

Cotton rags are recycled from charity shop cloths throw outs. £5 will get you 2 large bags of rags to be.




This "Thing" (Insert bad words here) has proved to be the straw what broke the camels back. Despite being in a cleaning tent to remove the muck and grime. It was still seized. Not with years of muck, but super glue.
So a raid of Mini Me stock of make up I "liberated" some nail varnish remover. That has helped and now it does move and is now in bits. But That's all I did get done.


So now relaxing with a decent stew, chilled wine. First drink since New Year.

How to chill wine down TYA style.

Take a bucket, fill with water. Add wine. Empty old CO2 extinguisher into water.

Been on the defensive from the get go. Get the impression they were expecting dried pse oak and were expecting a kit form.
Not me covering the front garden in sawdust.

Halfway through and I'm asked when I'm putting the diagonal braces in.

What braces says me.

Shown a pencil sketch the surveyor drew.

Not possible to as front crossbeam and posts don't line up.

Were told that once it's been Danish oiled it will match the front door...

I may have laughed.

Should add. I had no interaction interaction with the customers until Tuesday morning when I arrived on site.
Subbing for a double glazing firm.

3 for 3 now. I'm out. Plenty more people to work for.

Just had a text. Don't go tomorrow to finish.

Shame. It looks identical to my drawings.

First flat roof.
Rock up. Find the brickie so have used the slab for finished floor level walls are 175mm too low. Fit the roof anyway I'm told.

Extra tall units wren supplied for the kitchen wouldn't fit.

Second roof. Drawings made by me. Turn up to find low walls and a steel in the way of my joists.

Redesign the roof on the fly and cantilever to get my roof joists past it.

Looks too busy with those diagonals in, in my opinion.

Sounds s bit like the oak porch, outbuilding and veranda I helped construct for the in-laws, no plans though, and it changed daily!

I would say its what the customer asked for but apparently they were never shown them.

Not bad considering I had a photo and some scribbled measurements to work from.

Made a start on the rotating stand for the new linisher today. Want it so I can have it in either the horizontal or vertical position (or any angle in between). The white bits were acquired for free recently, quite handy too as the bolt is an S92 gearbox mounting bolt and is the perfect size, plus I've got the nice threaded square part of the barrel but to use. I'll weld a handle to the head of the bolt so it can be released and tightened by without tooling. Also, 25mm box is just the right size for the spacer.
I'll cut part way through and fold then weld the 3mm sheet for a column then I think i'll probably re'use the base that came with it.
