The glass for the coffee table arrived today so it's finally in the house. Actually finished the rest of it about 3 weeks ago.

The metal bit is an ex aircraft part that was scraped, made from titanium. Only 2 mechanical fasteners used, they are the 2 screws to locate the plate to the legs, but it lifts off.
Total cost to me was £50 for the glass and my time. The sleepers off-cuts were free.

Starting to take shape now, this has been a long journey....

Got the platform between the pods welded in today, the steering ram will be mounted on this, also the rudder indicator for the auto pilot will likely be on it.
.

I used the EWM in single pulse today as it is a fair bit faster and the welds seem decent enough.

Last job of the day was to make extension steering rods for the Cheetah I was working on at the weekend.

I have a number in my head, but I'm not sure it's correct. Circa 200,000 but I'm wondering if that was for a U/S one going back, so a new one would be a bit more.

Not today, but Saturday - I found the old door that had been bricked up and covered with pebbledash.. so I made a hole.

I know a guy who had to do that same thing. He went on honeymoon and came back to find pebbledash where his front door used to be - his mates had bricked it up and 'dashed it in the week

i keep eyeing up the merlin block at work and thinking it would be the greatest coffee table known to man, reckon it would hurt the wallet as much as mrs tbd would hurt me if she came home to a merlin in the living room

good morning gents, again not just today.
Been asked to do drawings and sample spinner base for children's play area toy.
Cut out the components from 10mm plate (base, gussets and top mounting plates).

The plasma marked out the positioning of the gussets for welding, also marked the holes to be drilled, taped and positioning of the machined hollow bar.

As can be seen above makes positioning very easy

Not easy to see but there is actually marks on the plate which line up for the placement of this hollow bar. The threaded holes in the plate are 10mm and placement was done on the plasma machine. Threaded holes in the machined hollow bar are 18mm by 1.5.

The left hand bit goes on top of the square base with the gussets. These things are supposed to support up to 8 kids (up to 10 years old). The main bearing mount is a 4000kg rated stub axle. If other kids are like mine it will be tested to it's limit

I made easy work of getting two seized up brakepipe nuts out of a brake compensator

Got the outboards on and bolted today, rest of the day was taken up with working out/sourcing steering components etc. Steering ram will be a Hydrive 210 DE/LS

Just a thought Hood. Would there have been any advantage if the pods were wider at the transom, there would have been more bouyancy. Most of the time pods have been put on here is to compensate for extra weight, just to lift the rear out of the water and improve running. I suspect that the outboards will be lighter than what was taken out
