I've cooked breakfast .So far today I've made toast...and made mince pies too...that's about it lol
Laid 20 slabs...then gone for a walk round the lake.
Then cooked a chilli and rice.
Does any of that count

What's a cantilevered step?A cantilevered step for the shed. I've been watching too much Grand Amazing Spaces.
It's not metal but there are nails in it.

It does look very corridorish in a corridor sort of way. If you squint and the light is bad.Used up some of my CLS today building a corridor to join the small shed to the main garage, the corridor is going to have a sink and somewhere to make hot drinks with storage at the other end, i will be putting lighting in and a few power points but I assure you it is just a corridor
I promised not to build another shed till i fitted a new bathroom so yes its s corridor.

Better than my efforts.Had the tig almost a year but attempted very little aluminum with it - just stuck some 6mm round bar, almost no practise. I have learned than anodised sheet is rubbish, even if its fully sanded back and polished, might be the grade? Next time I will use new sheet.

Im unsure why the butt weld cracked at the start?
Had a play with pulse... Nope my timing is out, save that for another day!

Im no good practising on sheet. It needs to be a functional item/project - even if I ruin it then have to start again... So thats enough, got it tacked.

Ive found I really dont like low frequency AC so Ive turned it upto 180Hz, which has a sound I dont mind.
The peices are 2mm sheet and 3.3mm wall pipe. Amps at 160, 16mm plate as a heatsink. Abusing the downslope to control heat.

Whats the recommended way to clean up aluminium beads? Polishing mop doesnt get between the dabs.

Ah, the weld beads shiny enough when I got it right, its the etched cleaning zone Im not sure how to polish up. Its slightly undercut and the mop doesnt touch it. Wire brush would do, but scratch up the bead.Call me Gaz.
From about 7 minutes in.
I learned the answer to this today. More amps. Thickest peice here is 3mm so I started practise at about 90A, then I reread the ac tig guide thread. Saw the +50% rule for tacking, and stuck it upto 160a, liked the result and left it at that. The big heatsink was needed or it'd be a melty mess, bead flowed nicely.I can run a nice bead now but fail to get anything to actually stick.
Wipe some green Fairy or green Palmolive bar soap about an inch or so from the weld area ..when it turns black it's way too hot to handle.. It's also the annealing temp of Aluminium .I have been practicing TIG welding ali as I now have a welder that works!
Not as easy as it looks.

Something else I learned - aluminium gets VERY flipping hot! The problem is it doesn't look hot
Picked up a piece with my TIG gloves - ouch - burnt my fingers in record time. Lucky there was a bucket of water next to me. A leaky roof can be a life saver![]()
