Forklift starter hit itself today, pulled it apart and found the brushes were knobbed. Just by chance it used the same MT series brushes as some of the yank stuff I run.
Cleaned up and sorted within the hour

They look like Delco Remy. My Pickup starter motor uses the same, where do you get them from, usually i port mine

Not really made anything but I've been playing with opamps, thermocouples and fancy test equipment.

It's a new lab at uni, full of new Agilent/Keysight/Rhode&Schwarz power supplies, 5.5 digit meters, arbitrary wave generators, digital oscilloscopes, etc etc. I think I even saw an old Keithley SMU, might have to have a play some time. I also might have to see what's about on eBay, I want my own kit now.

I think just something bigger than 20mm box section will do the trick... The bar stool I posted (previous page maybe) is plenty sturdy enough... But that's a mix of 40mm and 50mm box.

I'm thinking about doing another one with 4 legs though.

I shot a wild boar with a .300win mag, it laid there for about 2mins then got up running a further 75yds before collapsing. Once gutted it was found there was little left of its heart. Sure are very strong dangerous animals. Most unwise to approach even when you think they are dead.

We have boar in the woods behind.. A few years back, I was out in the workshop late i.e. fully dark, and I heard about 8 rounds on full auto... though he was probably after deer. Asked the neighbour about it and it wasn't the first time..

Last time I was in Poland (2017) they were talking of a cull to bring them down to 1 per 100km/sq. God knows what that would do to the population, trying to halt the spread of Asian swine flu

I made the drill go pop while running a 36mm step step drill through 2mm steel. I really should have used the big drill bit I didn’t want to deal with cords, oh how foolish that was.

Now to decide if I spend a lot on a new controller and motor or a lot + a bit and get a whole new body.

I drink black coffee and occasionally have to give my mug that treatment, otherwise it looks like a portable health hazard.

I always drink my black coffee from a stainless steel mug. Swill it out, brew up. Repeat.

Electronics bench kit costs buttons now compared to when I first got into it (1982? ).
Used to buy ex-MOD/Police kit at radio rallies. I had a Hewlett-Packard frequency counter that read to 1.0000MHz on Nixie tubes (!) and an AVO that was missing most of its ranges having been abused by various incompetents over the years. Got my first digital MM in 1990 (an AVO M2005) and still use it now.
First up though, you need a bench PSU. Thurlby-Thandar 30V 2A on top of the microwave and a Kingshill dual 60V 2A when I really need to wake myself up - both 1980s and still perfectly serviceable.
There used to be a place in Leeds that sold ex-MOD kit; mate of mine is an audio designer and I remember going down to collect an ex-RAF Tektronix scope that was brand-new and unused. It had been kept as a backup, calibrated every year but was disposed of as surplus. Still in its squaddie-proof flightcase, £100. Can't recall the name of the place but I bet someone on here will...

cant remember the name, but it was on bishopgate. opposite the Scarborough Hotel, in the arches right next to Leeds railway station.?

A nice power supply is top of my list, as good as a 6.5 digit meter would look on my desk, it's a bit pointless without anything to measure. I'm quite picky though, the Agilent on the right in my picture is far nicer than the TTi on the left.

Bought a cheap engineering square.
Drilled some holes and glued some magnets in.

Hey presto, magnetic square... specifically for helping me square small strips of metal on the press brake.

I don't know how anyone else does this without a powered backstop it takes far too long to set the manual backstop on mine.

Not today, but unusually I remembered to take photos before customer came to collect. He needs a discreet phone holder for re-enactments, so came up with 2 designs. One is a large wallet, the other, a spare bullet thing that hangs of the gun belt (sorry, forgot the name of it). Many thanks chaps for the bullets for display, they make even the plainest gun belts look stunning. (@Perry Owens, @Migmac, @northwest ).
