I am 4 pots off coffee into a dull day.
So.
One broken vice.
Drill 2 holes to take 2 pins in both parts to hold the parts in place.
This was the difficult part, getting the holes to line up.
With welding rods, advised by a welding shop it was first tacked into place.
Then slowly the crack/brake was filled with weld.
The dress back with flap discs.
Then the old paint was stripped.
Caustic soda mixed with water and flour to make a paste.
Then it was kept on a hot plate to keep it working.
Very Heath Robinson.
Then painted again.
In this temperature it will take a while to dry and harden.
So.

Vark Hot plate/Playpen heater.
Paraffin Stove, 20mm plate and a pile off assorted scrap on top.
In a few minutes it gets up to over 200Deg C. The temp. probe trips out at 200degC.
It is great to heat parts, dry parts and heat workshop.
3 hours of heating and then when the stove is turned off it radiates heat for 3 hours.

Hobarts delivered some 5 mm laser plywood today, so despite having the day off I popped into work and used the laser cutter.
Made a slightly ridiculous drawer unit to fit alongside the water cooler in my welding trolley:
The handles are currently made from flange-button-head screws and penny washers. I'll probably replace them with something prettier at some point.

Yes: they really are that deep:
I'm not sure exactly what I'll do with them, although I'll probably cut out some rectangles of plywood and use it as glued-in drawer dividers. At the moment I've got tungsten packs and TIG fingers in two of the drawers, but that isn't really using the space well.
I wanted something to make use of the space to the left of the water cooler (which is only 120 mm wide and goes back 565 mm). I was a bit optimistic with the sizing (I'm not that used to laser cutting or working with wood to be honest), so I made it slightly too wide
. Thankfully, the only place where the width is constrained is at the front 30 mm, so I was able to tweak it by sanding it down a little.

The trimmer is an Active Evolution 2.5Hp and despite the displacement it's really powerful
Only 30cc or maybe even 25cc
But Active Is an Italian small engine make specialised in high performance 2 strokes engines
They started producing Go karts engines
I had to repair a chainsaw produced by them and it was something crazy 7.5Hp at 15500rpm

Used a corse profile to speed up the print, it's only one of the Aldi jobbies and after hearing of tales of woe I was expecting instant failure but no, came out OK, surface finish isn't great but I can start tweaking now

Then this from Thingverse, its a DTI holder for the BXA toolpost
However it is dimensionally incorrect so I modelled one in Inventor ready to print out tomorrow

Is it dimensionally correct in the original drawing? All thermoplastics used in FDM printing shrink to a certain degree and you will have to make certain allowances.

Had to mess around a bit, to get a good copper solution.
It suggested Hydrogen Peroxide and vinegar.
It needed warming up.
So I did.
Yes, the steel is plated in copper.
But the black shows it is "brunt", so not 100%.
But as a bit of fun, it was ok.
