That's really really good! Easily the best one I've seen yet. I've seen more boxy looking ones, but you've shaped yours really nicely, great job!

Finally after having started in April and only having spent 15 days here and there that includes ground work im finally framing, clearly my house as it would be the last job. Its only 6x3m so nothing drastic.
Timber arrived at 12 didnt start cutting until 1pm finish about 430, this was me and my dad it isnt his trade but he is so much more capable and useful than most people i work with. Really pleased with our efforts wish he was 30years younger hes 69 im 26 would love to work with him full time.
Rafters tomorrow, if i can get my rubber ill have on Saturday.
Fingers crossed i can complete the sitting room for Christmas, handy building control are quick.

Going to bolt a ledger to the block work were the vertical dpm is and use adjustable jiffy hangers of the sole plate and ledger, gives the right amount of fixings and pieces of urine to match floor height.

No - with regards to the tail stock centres. If you've got a twist in the bed you'll start turning a taper as the carriage moves down towards the tailstock. If you're looking at the head-stock a clockwise rotation of the bed would result in the tailstock end becoming narrower (I think). An anti-clockwise twist will result in the tailstock end being larger.

Today I made the bit attached to the brake disc... The rest was actually built a couple of years ago.
Mk 1 was powered by a washing machine motor and it showed promise but wasn't quite powerful enough. So I did the sensible thing and cut out out the old 90° gearbox off a scrap tractor topper so it could be made PTO driven. So slight increase in HP from 1/3rd to, well whatever tractor happened to be available. It also had the nice bonus of not having any electrics near the water.
Unfortunately I remembered that since Dad's tractor ended up in the pond accidentally the PTO clutch is seized on - not ideal for the intended purposes. So we tried yesterday with my little Kubota which the PTO clutch does work (only 19HP this time rather than 40). Unfortunately it was a little too fast and a teensy bit too powerful (ripped a leg off).
So a quick call to a local tractor repair place and a broken PTO stub shaft was sourced and a little "cue the funk" and an adapter plate was made to bolt it up to the Corsa's wheel. Now idle in 1st gear is just about right and proven reasonably successful.
In case the feathers aren't a giveaway it's a duck plucker.
And the Corsa was a guinea pig for our remote control power steering systems and is scrap - this way Mum actually gets a use out of it rather than it just cluttering up the farm.

So there's quite a science behind it, scalding temperature of the water and when to kill them with regards to moulting etc.Duck Plucker.......love it....
does it work
Works better on chickens because they're naturally easier to pluck. These ducks are muscovies which are basically small geese and a sod to pluck.
Took a few goes per duck but doesn't do too bad a job. Although the water butt could be made bigger I think for the drakes, they're a bit big for that size of drum.

Today I made some yellow light shine on the wall.
Two coats of Vitrail glass paint and a coat of poly varnish, left to cure overnight on a heater and fitted today.
The idea being that yellow headlamps are quite unusual these days (though still perfectly legal) and this will stand out a bit more. The approx 15% loss of light from the normal lamp is more than compensated for by the oodles of lovely extra lumens being produced by the H4 LED.
It will be interesting to see if the claimed extra visual acuity is achieved. If the overall level of illumination fails to live up to expectations, it's easy to simply switch on the other two.
