Just made 12 Rail heads/ finials to extend a gate.
I wasn't able to find anything the same to buy, so bought something close and had to chop bits off and weld bits on.
Chopped the top off and stuck on some 20mm square.
Shaped the top bit of 20mm square bar with a grinder
Welded them to a length of 20mm square bar.
Added another rough ring of weld to shape with a grinder.
It looks a bit bigger because it was closer to the camera.
The flat faces on the originals are a little bit concave but i'm not going to do that.

] . When I concentrate on following the join I forget to feed the rod, and when I pay attention to that I lose to the join.....
I introduced them to Mr Grinder, and by the time Mr Paintbrush is involved they'll look half decent [I think].


, I drilled & countersunk holes so that it can be screwed down, then I only welded the lower spigot to the wrong side of the triangle.
