stud weld dent tool

hi all first post here ..never used one of these,so many dents you cant access from behind, thinking of buying one..any good?..

yep hopefully a bit cheaper! might save on panel replacement/body filler!

sorry I havent any experience with using one, but its quite an expensive tool for a hobby welder.

I would guess a bit OTT for a personal car restoration but maybe standard use for a pro bodyshop.

I'm sure you'll get advice from someone here but it would probably help to say what your needs are exactly: hobby/commercial etc.

Welcome to the forum.

At £600 you would have to save quite a lot on filler to make it pay

Presuming you have a MIG welder.

Get yourself a slide hammer.

Then get a decent selection of thick washers and self tappers or machine screws.

Mig the washers or screw heads to the panel, attach the slide hammer then away you go

With screws or studs you can only pull well in one plane.

Using washers and either a hook or steel cable through the washer you can alter the angle of pull, handy sometimes on curved panels.

I've pulled a few tank slapper dents out of motorcycle tanks this way when the other option would have been to cut an opening in the tank bottom and work from inside.

good idea! ive only got gas but probably worth getting mig ...as would do more than just a stud welder....better value too!
