Not having seen one of these machines in the flesh I couldn't be certain of the fitting at that end so I went with the simplest one I know of. Usually if a brass threaded union is fitted it's mounted on the back panel rather than inside. I hope that the hole has a grommet in it to prevent chafing of the hose!
I've never liked those crimp on hose clips. The compression has to be 'just so' or they leak. Worse yet you can easily cut through them using pincers so they then just drop off. The Jubilee clip may have celebrated it's centenary and a half, but it's still one of the best ways I know of securing a flexible hose to a rigid pipe.

A bit of trivia: The Jubilee clip was invented by a retired cavalry officer (ex Raj) who then donated the patent to Great Britain at the time - and named in honour - of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

The crimp on ones exert a much more even pressure than jubilee's if they're done right.

Ok it works! Finally switched it on and stuck something together. A very simple stand for one of my existing sculptures. Welds are obviously messy but sure felt good to put something together! Thanks for all the advice. This forum is a lifesaver!

Well done looks good, nice n square and the welds look ok from where I am !! Practice makes better, I am not saying perfect coz a pro can do it and it isnt allways perfect.

If you're unhappy with your welds then try making this kind of thing from square rather than round tube. it's a lot easier. However I would be inclined to add extra bracing due to the apparently less than robust nature of the materials you've used. Going from the bottom of one leg to the top of the diagonally opposite leg at least once if not twice it should be a lot stronger. Mind you; it still depends on how much weight you expect it to have to bear.

Jan - think I will go with your suggestion of extra bracing thanks. Square would have been nice to use in terms of being stronger and easier to weld but I needed to tie it in with sculpture that's going on top which I made from round bar. Just need to somehow transport that huge thing from house to studio now . . .

It's a pity that you're so far away otherwise I'd be happy to give you a hand. I have an import 8-seater MPV from which I've (temporarily) removed half the seats and virtually all the carpets that could easily accommodate that ... er ... that. Sadly you are so I can only wish you good luck and hopefully a decent commission for all your hard work. If I tried to do anything like that I'm sure it would end up looking like a cross between a Dalek humping a dustbin and a half eviscerated Cyberman with a massive hernia!
