Now then. I've been using the old ESAB OK 48 E7018s this week. However, I dug out an old box of Stubs 614, 7018's and gave them a try. What an amazing rod. Really smooth to use, a black glass flux (unlike the grey mush of the ESAB), and underneath a fantastic looking smooth weld.
Stubs went out of business a few years ago I believe, although they were always known for quality, and I recall Stubs rods were always about when I was an appo.
Does anyone know of any similar standard rods available now? Snowy, Paul(s), TechnicAl?....
