Stubby Gas Lense kits???

How many have got one of these? Do they really do what they say on the tin? If so, any recommendations on where to look for one??

Use WP9 size torch end consumables on a WP17/26 torch, i'd say very useful if you got a tight job.
Not used one myself but would like to, you could ask @langy as he usually gets a few things in from the states, not sure if hes got these in but I got my pyrex lens' from him

Yes I have stubby kits in stock end of the week.

I have one, use it constantly. Only 26 torch I don't use it on is my scratch start flex head valved Jobby that lives on the engine drive, all the others run 9/20 front end consumables now, except when running 3.2mm lanthanated, then I use a full size 26 Gas lense.

I have one on my wp9. Brilliant for getting into tight spots and makes the whole torch much nicer to work with. The 26 torch that came with the unit and I use for high power jobs is like holding a power drill in comparison.

They are great things Tom has just taken some off me. Mine come curtesy of Steve langy. They transform that big num torch head (17,18,26) into a much more compact head that takes 9/20 size cups. Problem is they ain't easy to come by unless you wanna pay big bucks. The common issues with tig torches are size. You want the ability to run at high current, you don't want a torch the size of a club hammer, water cooling is expensive and so these stubby lenses for the bigger torches are a decent solution. Water cooling and a wp20 is the best solution mind.

Wasnt worried about the cooling tbh, going to use on a wp18, which us good for 350amps (if i remember rightly).
Was hoping it would make it a bit more comfy to use than with a standard gas lense. Not really into the whole cup walking thing, much prefer to just run the ol pinky along the job if needs be.

Will keep an eye out, just wondered on a recommended retailer.

Yep they will make life more comfortable with your wp18 for sure. I've only really come across CK ones. They certainly are not copied by lots of cheap importers like the 9/20 lenses. Well not to my knowledge. There is a seller on eBay in uk that does them and a variety of cups to fit. Not sure of the make but looks American the way the ad is laid out. I'll try find link.

They seem pretty good quite expensive too but it's much more cost effective to buy a lens in the size you want for £28 than a whole ck kit and not use half of it.
They do the lens and the selection of cup sizes to suit. I'd just buy the lens and fit my own standard cups to it.

They are not dear out there. They are as common as the 9/20 are here. Getting them here though options are limited and prices are high.

You are mistaken. The cups are for a 9/20. The lens is for a 17. It says #17 adaptor. Basically the seller is selling the cups but he sells that lens so you can use the cups on a 17 too.

What are the advantages of them big cups? Any advantage on ally or is it aimed at keeping stainless weld pool shielded until it cools?

None with Alu at all. And regarding SS I wouldn't use one for that either. Short runs with Ti they would be useful.

Langy further down on this thread sells them I think. Yes they make a difference. They allow the bigger wp26, WP17 torches to reach into tighter spaces like a wp9. Basically very compact
