My front gates are wrought iron/steel and are in need of some repairs to replace a fe missing scrolls kicked out by the local scrotes when the house was ampty before we bought it. I want to get them dipped to remove all the old paint first but they are galvanised. Will this damage the galv coating? It will give a much better finish if I can do this as the remaining paint is really patchy and a bit lumpy and I can start from scratch. I'll paint the new scrols in Galvafroid before I top cot them. I also need to replace the hinges with adjustable ones as the stone pillars theyre hung from have moved over the years and they don't shu properly any more.
