straightening an axle

wasnt sure where to put this but here goes. have an axle from a small drift buggy, it is about 2-3ft long and inch diameter. its not badly bent and hardly noticeable by eye but need it straightened. any idea how to straighten it or even if it is possible.

Strip the job to the bare axle, place the ends of the axle in V blocks and check for maximum run out with a DTI (clock gauge) then using a hydraulic press with the axle still in the V blocks apply some load to the axle in a very controlled manner at the point of max runout while checking movement with the DTI, Keep pressing and checking until the axle is back within acceptable limits, Not very well described but you get the idea,

I have seen this kind of thing done by eye using a flat plate and a fly press. Looked easy, but I bet it would drive you crazy the first few times.
