I spray with WD40 too, Bob, and I never get problems neither. But I've been keeping pretty quiet about it, because some of the guys on here start having kittens if you tell 'em that...
Well here is my take on the WD40 issue. I am a manufacture of ceilingtrains and they are welded from new shiney steel tubing. Now the problem in the summer time is rust from the high humid days. Then there is some splatter issues. So if i use the ready to use anti splatters the stuff in those cans will kill you dead. I have read the labels as well as used them for 25 years. Then there is the anti splatter with a water based formula and like i said before that stuff will rust anything real quick. I can't buy anything (i have tried) that works better than WD40 for the rust and splatter, any spray manufactures want to send me some samples i am all ears. So i put all of my little parts in the fixtures and spray everything with the WD40 and weld away. Now i am not a total retard and i do weld near an open door with a fan sucking out and i do wear a half mask 3M respirator with a chemical filter just in case anyone is wondering. I just retired from an oil refinery so i learned how to use the stuff. My rusting and splatter problem is gone too as i don't want to clean off 1,000 little pcs of metal and maybe 5,000 welds. Just my thoughts i will go back to my corner...Bob
