Stone-chipping....how far?

Is stone-chipping the whole of the underside of a car restoration the preferred route? I was considering just doing the inner arches and inner wing areas in Gravitex as they would be subjected to the brunt of anything that is flung off the wheels.... Maybe also the lowest edges of the sills. I believe Gravitex can be over painted with body colour...
As regards noise, dynamax or similar on the inside of the floor/quarters/doors etc.

Any pointers would help please, as I've just done the underside in 2k epoxy and am still within the window for over painting without having to scuff it up first

I would say personal choice but I would do the whole under side just for peace of mind.

Using Gravitex or similar all over the underside will supplement the sound deadening impact of the Dynamat.

I tend to mask a line level with the bottoms of the doors but as above it’s personal choice. It’ll be different for a work truck or a classic car

Some of the old bangers that I've had to weld over the years needed underseal right up to the windows!

Go with what was originally done , nothing worse on a nice car than seeing stonechip over sills etc when they should be smooth ,,, as or the actual underside , go for it.

I've shuddered at some of the work I've seen garages do on topside panels... a patch lapped over a rust hole in a rear quarter at the level of the top edge of the bumpers covered in shutz lol.

I know what you mean, but I'm running sideskirts anyway..... The last guy sprayed it all over but stayed on the horizontal part of the sills (mostly), which seams like a good idea (do you like what I did there )

Do you know where most of the chips were before you started work on the car?

My MGB has sills that curl under. I brought the stone chip about half way round. That way it gives plenty of protection but is largely out of sight. I have seen examples where people have come all the way up to the bottom of the door and I don't think it looks as good.

No, it's a project I took over from someone else. Had stone chip everywhere ...covering all sorts

i like the vw style height of stonechip and underseals.

take a line circa 15mm lower than the door jam edges. pull masking along that.
stonchip everything under that/wheel arches and behind where the bumpers would be to cover joints and panel seams.

then paint over that.

Thanks @Exuptoy Nearly there with this bit but every time I think I'm finished a I find something else! But it's good to finally say enough is enough and get some paint on. Any job is better than getting underseal off, a bit of welding is quite therapeutic.
