Stihl hedge cutter fuel cap

I bought a cheap stihl hedge cutter.
An old model, hs61.
It was sold as "spares repairs with fuel leak" but its just had the wrong fuel cap fitted.

Can anyone point me towards a source for a replacement fuel cap?

I only seem to be able to get one from the states: and £6 + £16 postage and a fortnight's wait isn't doing it for me.
My local stihl "dealers" are only interested in selling me a new machine.
I'm not spending 300 quid to cut 30ft of hedges - I just want to cut em when *I* want. Not just when it's dry.

Can you wait a couple of days or so? My workmate has a knackered hedge trimmer, a stihl too. I will ask him what model it is and if he’s willing to let the fuel cap go.

I'm good for a couple of weeks, now anyway - I cut the hedges, and my t-shirt is outside, airing off cos it's covered in petrol.


Just don't want to pay £16 + in postage.
It's the principal.

I know the feeling, went to order a new bit for my rifle. Nothing heavy or big, £7.50 postage- eh no way. Bought a second hand bit, free postage. Arrived today, cost the seller £2 for signed for.

Unfortunately, it also looks like the aftermarket one for a hs75, which (I think) is what's fitted now.

It in French, but pretty straightforward and lists the still part number.

Think that's the right one, 20 euros, so your 16 quid sounds about right. Well over the odds for a bit of plastic though. Least you know what it looks like now, seems similar to the one I have on my still strimmer fs120, s might be worth trying any of the repair shops if they have a second hand one.

That page sayss that the hs61 cap is the same as the hs75...
So now I'm wondering if there's a seal washer/ o-ring mising from the cap, rather than the wrong cap...

Might be, worth a try, even a bog standard rubber washer / oring would prove the point by sealing, even if it wouldn't last, then you get a fuel resisant one,

I've spoken to them but they can't confirm if it will fit the hs61, so awaiting a reply from. Stihl tech support...
