I have a hydraulic ram operated car lift but i've had a problem with the pump running continuously when the its switched on at the wall where as it should only run when a button is pressed and held on one of the control levers.
Last night i had it apart and alot of the wiring was pretty tired so i spent a while replacing various wires/connectors and cleaning everythign up.
I tested the continuity of the buttons to check they were indeed opening and closing correctly which they were. After cleaning everythign up i was still left with the same problem.
I could turn the power on at the wall and the motor wouldn't start (which is good and as expected) i would then press & hold one of the buttons on one of the levers to activate the motor which caused the pump to run(which is good &expected) however letting go of the button is supposed to stop the motor, however this wasn't happening, the motor continued to run.
If i kept pressing either of the buttons on and off i could see the contacts clicking open and shut in the relay repeately as i pressed the button but it would appear that the secondary main circuit wasn't closing.
the relay is a type 65.31 like this one

there appears to be 2 screws on one of the faces, are these for anykind of adjustment or is it just a case of a knackered relay that needs replacing?
cheers
