Sticking aluminium to painted plaster

We've been asked to fix some 40x40x3mm aluminium angles to a stair soffit we did ages ago. Evidently the plasterers have made a bit of a mess and as people have moved into the building, they don't want the agro of replastering.

It needs to be secret fixed. I was thinking about gripfill, but is there anything that sets a bit quicker. I know the trick of sticking it on/pulling it back off/sticking it on again.

The angle is upside down, and out of the reach of fingers wanting to rip it off.

dab on gripfill and also u can get brush on superglue bonds all sorts of materials dab some of that on as well instant fixing while the gripfill hardens or araldite instant clear bonds in 90 seconds screwfix sell it

Hello Paul,

the problem, I think, is how strong is the paint finish as I can see that letting go. Surely countersunk screws would be unobtrusive, and a lot more secure?
