That made me chuckle at your PandA remark!Hitch this site lists all the common bar sizes and weights
http://www.industrialmetal.co.uk/, There also my local stockholders, huge stock, Anyone dealing with them should speek to "lofty" on cash sales hewill give you the best price, even if your intending to pick up from the front counter phone ahead, overwise you will be overcharged.... and buy the whole bar your be charged for the entire length anyway.
E.J Alloys, SS0 ONW, 01702 342727 Funny little shop, but they can get any special metals cut to size, phos, coppers, ally, etc. very pricey, and they call me Sir which anoys me..

Small stockholders handy for DIYers Id say as bars are cut to length, and bought by the mtr, Pricey compared with IMS but not really the same market..
P & A hydraulics, 01702 549241 often has off cuts of round bar to various specs, as well as CDS tube spec'ed and certified.... The owner is hard work, and blows hot and cold, sometime's he's helpfull sometimes not..
All these are in the Southend area... any good hitch, I know a few more if you want em?
Ian retired to Germany a couple of years ago and I always found him hot and cold. Ive worked there as occasional machinist covering holidays and welding when I was still coded. Now I do machine breakdowns for them.
Been a few times Ive been tempted to iron him out over the last twenty years.
On topic I use acton bright steels and ims
I dont mind selling hobbyists offcuts if ive got it
