There's not a lot of difference at the moment of welding. Though after welding cast iron it'll cool down and crack the weld off. The only MIG process that works well with cast is brazing. With stainless you'd ideally want to be using stainless wire and a very high percentage of argon in the shielding gas, but the technique is the same as mild steel.
