Hi folks,
I've a job I'm not sure what material thickness to use on. Basically it's a garden gate/door that's made of a steel sheet plasma cut with a design (large teasel plant looking thing) and has some round bar welded on top to make stems etc. He door sits in a frame that surrounds it and is bolted to the 2 walls and the floor.
My issue is I want to minimise warpage (I realise it will move somewhat with cutting into it and welding to it) but don't want to go silly heavy on the sheet as weight will be a factor, though the walls are pretty solid, I'm more thinking he customers not a big lady and I don't want it to be a pain to open and close!
Not sure what frame to use round the actual door leaf itself, I've used 50x30 for the casing frame, perhaps the same again, and thickness of the sheet I was thinking 3/4mm any more and I think it'll be too heavy, the door itself will have to be an 8X4 sheet but there will be bits cut off as both top and bottom are scalloped.
Any advice?! I'd rather not have to be buggering about straitening it, and it is going for galvanising afterwards.
Cheers,
Dan
